Rosemaling in Norwegian for "decorative painting", (applied decoration or embellishment, decorative, decorated (rosut, rosute, rosete, rosa) is the name of a form of decorative folk art that originated in the rural valleys of Norway. Some art historians interpret "rose" as a reference to the rose flower, although the floral elements are often so stylized that no specific flower is identifiable and not used at all in some designs. Rosemåling is a style of decorative painting on wood that uses stylized flower ornamentation, scrollwork, lining and geometric elements, often in flowing patterns. Landscape and architectural elements are also common.(From Wikipedia)

I have a set of 10 designs of Rosemaling available in my website, I hope you like them! Thanks for looking! Hugs and love, Yoriko

Really, really gorgeous. These are typically shown on a black background when I have seen them at fairs on reproduced costumes.

I think it would show up better on a black background too. Thank you Jerrilyn!

They are beautiful!
The same designs are used not only on wooden cupboard doors but as wool embroidery on the regional costumes, the most beautiful on the back. I made lots of pictures the last three years on the 17 th of May when everyone wears their costume. And digitised several in a stitch length and density suitable for wool - I used madeira's. And did some for 40wt embroider thread as well, see link for one of them.

It's fascinating! It must be beautiful seeing the costumes with the designs on the back. Your notebook cover is beautiful! Thank you Martine!

These look really pretty. How about a similar treatment for some traditional canal painting designs from England?
