I attempted to do something similar, but missed first putting something in the very center. You did it!! It's kind of like the Log Cabin quilt design too! It really has an interesting look to it!
Oh My Gosh!!! I LOVE THIS. Sorry I missed it, this is awesome!!!!
Love it!
Would like to try making it.
Your fabric choice is awesome. Thanks for sharing it.
I tried to do this design.. mine did not turn out so well. I wish i have the "in the hoop" pattern. Lol
your looks amazing!
I like your square , But then I like working with the hexagon shape.
Love it and yes, it would make a great placemat for your hot dishes or even just to put your dinner plate on. Well done Sue, you're always thinking outside the square or hexagon in this instance ~~ ha ha ha! Love Chris
Love it!!! I have a bigger hoop, but have not used it. I think the designs must be divided to save them and I don't know enough about 5D to do it.
I joined My Gardened Embroidery for 6 months so I could get all the great designs they have. And Thank You for all your great work...
Kathy
Just had a quick stop at Joann Fabrics on our way home from church and they had their Christmas fabrics at 70% off plus a coupon for an additional 10% off so I resupplied my stash thinking placemats for next years gifts. These would be perfect and I do have the larger hoop so you have sure inspired me-thanks a million!!!
Love the design, love the colour and love the fabric guess you could say it is fabulous....soozie
Love it! This would be so good as a hot pad for dishes on the table.
I love the theme of this and the good contrast you have between the fabrics. Nicely done!
Lucky you to have a big hoop. that was me venting... and i love it so much. the fabric is fantastic. and design even better.
Hugs pam.
Wow, Sue, this is incredible, it could even be done as a heat pad for pots on a table......great job!!
I like this Sue it looks good. Now can I be naughty and ask are you cutting down CDs to fit inside or have you run out of them?
LOL. I still have plenty of CDs ready for new ideas. This just has wadding.
very nice Sue. I love the fact that it is done ITH . I knew you could do it. I also love the music note fabric. Very pretty. 2014 may be the year I go for a new machine with a HUGE hoop. Maybe? hugs, Susan
I want to do this. In the hoop or out, I don't care but I need to know how. It boggles my wee mind. Lovely colors.
When you go to attach the first strip to the center, you start stitching half the way down leaving the first half free. Then stitch on strips 2,3,4,5,6. Then finish attaching the rest of strip 1. Hope this helps!
Once again I find myself wishing for a HUGE hoop! This is lovely Sue -- nicely done!
But you don't need a hoop, it's just straight seams and some trimming, then you can make it any size at all.
Wow, it came out wonderful!!! I love the musical fabric and the colors!! Hugs, Laura*
Clever! Nice fabric and colours too. I'm still figuring out how you did the last seam in both rounds.
Sticky stuff! Actually, it is the little bit before the fisr seam. The last one goes over it.
The first piece is sewn, leaving about 1-2" open, then after the last piece goes on the octagon, you finish the first seam , as it has something to sew to. Not hard at all (when you remember-haha)don't ask.I'm not Jofrog for nothing- ripit ripit.
Yes, that's how i do it using the sewing machine (at least the squares, haven't done hexagons). However, doing it ITH it would be tricky, so I wondered if Sue had found a way to solve the problem other than cheating with sticky stuff or using a ladderstitch by hand.
No - I just cheated! I did think I had a solution, but it would only have worked on a larger scale.
Terrific job Sue I have been thinking about this project too! Jofrog has inspired us all, lol hugs Loralye
Iit would be so much easier doing it in the machine than by hand. love it. will you share the pattern for the embroidery machine? hope so. would love to try it and show it to my sister sewer group... one way to make it a little eaisier.. i do hope you will share the patttern and instructions. please let me know.
Oh, Sue...great minds! I have also been experimenting with this...I refer to this as "strip and flip"....turned out great!
