Oh Carolyn you lucky girl. I use organza to stitch out designs that were not digitized for FSL (using water soluble stabilizer) then cut close to the outside stitching and end up with a design that looks like FSL. Good luck with your new stash.
I added it to the underneeth of a cutwork table runner for my mum this christmas, it looked great shining through
Oh my gosh!! you are sitting on a gold mind!! So many possibilities!!! Have fun. Kay
Carolyn, You are so generous and some of that generosity is reflecting back to you! Enjoy.
What a beautiful surprise! I use it to make church banners and flags... DD uses it to make Irish dance dresses. LOL.... Don't guess you want to do that. LOL.... looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Happy New Year!
Just wondering if you have decided what to do with your 'windfall'. As there has been no comment I presume that you are busy sewing out some of the great ideas that you have been given. Happy sewing with whatever you do with it
Oh my! I just paid $5 for a yard. UGH! I enjoy working with organza now that I liquid stabilize it. I use 2 layers as applique material to give projects a bit of sparkle, certainly it is not as much as angelina. I use organza as a base with the angelina.
ok thanks for the tip .Wish u were next door u could share the wind fall lol hugs
Christmas all over again. To bad you didn't have it when you made your snowman ornaments. You could use it between them to make them shine. Happy Stitching and Happy New Year
Please show use the things you will make with that lot we are all GGGGGGGGG, here in Aussy for little girls Fairy dresses plenty of frills, and all the other Cuties have gave you a lot to think and do with them HAPPY SEWING love Sherene XXX
Look at these, maybe you can embroider them...
The second video shows how they are knotted, the technique is called Furoshiki and it is very funny.
Hugs Sonia
Aghh ... the youtube link does not cooperate ^ _ ^ 'if you are interested in, type in youtube Kakefuda Kyoto
I can't tell by looking, perhaps you could make some skirts, if the fabric feel right, (for summertime wear) wow! nice surprise.
Lol i hate dresses i am a bush whacker (my Dad name for me)I couldnot tell u the last dress i ever wore lol hugs
I'd never be asking a question like that. I'd be touching, feeling and hoarding it. I love to make toile candle wraps out of this stuff. Also embroider and make seasonal glass jar covers. Lucky you, I know you will make lovely things. I bought an applique pattern that would make lovely leaves out of this. I'm jealous.
It is good to have fabrics at home when your fingers are itching
I would send some to me LOL wow it's like Christmas all over again! You must have been really really good! I think you have some great ideas here & organza is very fancy so the angels are well suited to this but I look forward to seeing what you create out of this wonderful blessing! Hugs loralye
I have bought lovely organza gift bags for every holiday including Valentines Day & put little things like those cinnamon hearts inside it. They are very pretty. The might make good garment bags for when you travel, for personal items. Christmas stocking liners?
How about bags for lavender or potpourri to hang in clothes cupboards
You could do flat ones to put in underware drawers.
Mind you there's going to be a lot of bags...LOL...
Good luck X
Carolyn , I am green with envy! I spend lots on organza as I use it as stabilizer for many of my ITH projects and for quite a lot of FSL decorations and other products that don`t require much stiffening. Instead of dissolving or cutting the stabilizer away from my finished embroidery, I carefully burn the organza close to the edge of the embroidery, using a small tipped soldering iron. The only problem with using a soldering iron is it is too hot for polyester embroidery thread but is fantastic with rayon thread.
The other use I make of coloured organza is making 3D flowers- great for brooches, hair decorations and wreaths etc.
You are soooo fortunate to have a considerate and giving friend.
Hope this helps - Barb.
Now that is going to keep you going Carolyn :) Happy sewing. Hugs Sarah.
WOW! WOW! WOW! I'd be making some of those gorgeous little girl's frilly ruffled organza petticoats. Our girls have them and they are selling like hotcakes over here in Australia.
The other thought I had was for costumes for special events. I don't know if you know anyone in the theatre, but all sorts of fabrics are utilised for costumes.
I too love those Organza Angels from Criswell! Only thing is you have so many colours to make them from!
Good luck with whatever you do Carolyn - someone must think you've got plenty of time on your hands! he he! Hope your hand is healing well. Love Chris
P.S. The website for the Pettiskirts has lots on there, but I saw this one too and thought you could use different fabrics as well.
Such nice, vibrant colors! Do you know who left it at your door, who it is from? Whoever it was, sure glad they thought about you! I like the flowers that chefin posted here, the girls wear them on those stretchy hairbands, but making this would just take a small amount of these bolts.Whatever you do,we will be watching for it in Projects-Toogie
oh boy i still don't know where to start
yes i know were it came from .A lady bought it thinking it was fabric to make things for her church.it was on sale for three dollars a yard.
Well noone knew how to use it so it sat there for a few years till someone said .I know someone who sews lots .she will love it. (i have never met her)So she gave it to her daughter to give to me.that is my friend Deneige at our post office. So i got all this from someone i don't even know.Thats God right??
Now i think he will show me what to do with it .
So i will wait and sew a little lol
You can make an early start for next Christmas . make your self & family a new door wreath each, green for leaves red & white for pointsetters etc. Also table centers. If the stitching is done they can be put together when you have a helper (sorry I have missed what you have wrong with your hand.Hope it is better soon) also make a set for who gave the Organza. The swing blouse sounds good as I have one but need more in different colours, they would use a lot of material. Best of Luck.
Wendy,What is a Swing blouse ?Never heard of it.??
My wrist is wrecked from doing to much like lifting wood, shoveling heavy snow ,years of knitting, crocheting and on and on***my hubby is blind and i do a lot of men jobs but now in my old age i will need to be good .is that possible??i don't know lol hugs Carolyn
Yowza...if anyone can figure a way to use it...it will be you...looking forward to your inspirations...!
What a fantastic surprise!! You could make just about anything your imagination allows. I would probably use it for applique, for one, since it is so light, it gives just a hint of color to a piece. Organza is also used in screen printing if you are interested in that. You have some nice colors there. Enjoy. :)
Wow that is nice supply. Bags, floral leafs of all sorts as mentioned. Use with mylar type designs. Next treasure hit will be fun and exciting as this batch I am sure. Looking forward to your New Year line of goodies. By the way Happy Blessed New Year! hugs Mary
make flowers....there are some beautiful flowers made of organza...you could make little girls halos with it....cant wait to see what you do..
The white is Perfect for the village with little(battery operated) lights inside. Black for the crooked little hunted house someone had up also. The reds you can do for flowers corsages also. Just an idea.
Holy moley..............well, if anyone can find a use, it will be you!! Something will come along and just be perfect for it!!
You have been given some great ideas. I am sure you will find a way to use it all up. Hugs Shirley

Go to google - type in Organza Swing Blouse - then scroll down to "Images of Organza Swing Blouses". They are very popular now - open in the front - no buttons - wear over another blouse or dress. The prints would be especially nice for this - Patrici
Use it to gift wrap your towels and projects you are always makiing
I see lots and lots of flowers and butterflies. Have fun and you will come up with something grand.
Whole bouquets of flowers!
This is what I would do.... I Love to make flowers with organza. Have fun!!!
you can do a lot........little girls will love it pic 2
or you take for bags pic 3
have fun with it hugs micheline
I think a friend of mine used it as stabilizer and burned it away with a burning tool...It was a topper, I believe. Example: Christmas ornament overlay and burn around the design?
Fun!
There are so many things you can do.
You could make dress-up skirts for little girls. You could use it to dress up a plain dress (re-assembly required) lol
It can be used as an underlay for many projects. I have a large roll -- so I might try using some to stabilize a design on my sweater -- IF I ever get time for that project.
no girls in my family only a 20 year old only boys!!
Thanks for your ideas hugs and Happy New Years
I can't wait to see what you do! Go to Google and type in sewing projects with organza
viola!
Yikes! I have no clue. I guess I'd use it for curtains? An overlay on placemats?
you are going to be busy late Christmas present enjoy Maria
They are Stunning...Which I was near you!!!!
Check out Day Style Designs for Trapunto Quilting. I have been trying to find some suitable organza for the pattern I purchased from Leah Day, but every time I order some it ends up out of stock. Now I know where it all went. Apparently to your house. LOL. Have fun.
