This is the BASIC hooded towel pattern I used here.Of course,I didn't add any kind of trim on this one. There is one in projects, I did make with trim.To see it, click on my name 'toogie' and you can scroll, till you locate it.As stated, the emb designs here, for the owl, are a mix of some I had.Hope this helps dbeggs and anyone else interested.-Toogie

The Basic pattern instuctions, is a sewing tutorial.Scroll this post for the link.I will have to go to the top and comment to add the link now.The embroidery designs, are like I explained, just frames, circles and triangle all put together. As Lidia explained, it is unsafe to post your email address here. There is a place if you look at the top header of this page it says INBOX.Click on that and you can type in my name toogie, or any other Cuties name, to send them a PM (private message). That is the only safe place to post your email add. You, and the person you PM, are the only ones that can read your PM.Look for the link, for the hooded towel instructions. Also look at the top at INBOX, I am going to send you a PM and your inbox will have a RED number, that just means you have a message.-Toogie

Thank you,Sue.It makes me appreciate, when I get a design, already digitized, sized and placed. It took me longer to put it all together, than to stitch it out.Keep up your good work and thanks for all you and other digitizers, have given us Cuties. We really do appreciate it.-Toogie
Great towel? Where did you come up with the fabric for the ears?
Can I show this post to my family? They don't believe that-LOL Glad you seemed to like it.-Toogie
ps.One g-son wants Superman.I do have a super mom and super baby design,I'll have to look, but it will have to go on the back. What color was his cape, red or blue?I can't remember.
I posted the BASIC instruction link, to make a hooded towel, in Community SEWING.Then just use your designs!
Clever how you came up with the eyes and nose. Sometimes it is over rated to be an adult when one can wrap up in one of these towels.
I studied, how the others looked and thought this would be recognized, as an owl. I wondered, at the time I dl these shapes, what in the world,I would use them for. They came in handy today.I too, think they would be good for us.
lol! Yeah I was wondering where you got the eyes too, they are great!!! Lovely owl!
Oh, Toogie, I just love this - especially the teal color!!! Well done! What a sweet Grandmother you are!! Hugs, Laura*
Laura,I'm glad you like it.These towels were so pretty, but after I got home with them,I thought I got a difficult color to work with. Are there turquoise blue or teal green owls? There are now!-LOL
This is adorable (and I don't usually like owls). The ears are a nice addition.
It almost didn't have ears.I didn't want to cut into the remaining half, of the hand towel(can use it with another bath to make two).So I used the top piece that my serger cut off,to round the hood. The seam goes from the center(top of head at face,to the crown at back. You just taper off there and it really has no back seam of hood. You end up with a tiny cut off piece and that is what I used for the ears, and lined them with black fabric.
forgot the presentation!
Thank you very much.I was trying to get my grandson to let me take his photo with it on,but he's shy,so I guess that's why I forgot to get one of it folded. Now I wish I had a celephane bag, to wrap it up, and really make it look nice to give.
ps. this towel is very thick, although I only paid $4. at WalMart, for the bath and $3. for the hand towel(which will make 2 hoods) The pink one, with the green rick-rack,I posted earlier was from Pennys and not nearly so thick.I think it may have been more like those micro-fiber towels.I paid the same price there,on sale.
Cool, good for Walmart having that, I only have 7 grand kids, if I start they will never let me stop. lol! You have a winner!!!
Sharon
oh i love these makes me want to make one for ME lol hugs
this is great my grandson is looking at this now he wants one ...linda
I love it you did a immaculate job!
Such high praise, I don't deserve. If you only knew how long it took me.I was all day, putting the designs together and then making it.The first ones I did, when I would get them to my machine,my machine would cut off.The dot files were dl like dot .25 inch, and the machine wouldn't reconize it.When I reopened them and saved them like dot quarter inch, the machine stayed on and stitched perfectly.Thank goodness,I had just scanned through my color steps,to look at the put together design. That's when my machine kept cutting off.I figured some part of the design was corrupt, but then I saw how it was saved. My program/machine won't accept anydesign with a period, mark in it.Anyway, that is why I dl free designs because you may need them one day,......like today.Thank you,it was worth all the backache,it's for my baby.
I only wish I had your designs and ideas to put it together - really good job..Karen
Searched for animal hooded towels, they show lots of photos.Check out leblogdelacotteacarreaux.com She has a double oval frame, on her current page, called applique medallion. It shows an A in it,but the A is not in the design. She also has a pretty heart frame.Pick them up,save them, you never know when you could use them 'out of the box', so to speak.
