Does anyone have any experience/opinions about the following threads? A young lady is getting low on her supply of embroidery thread for her Brother SE400 machine, and I would REALLY like some opinions/help on brands of thread...From my own personal experience, I will NOT recommend Coats&Clark....

I prefer Floriani thread. I will use Sulky, Robison-Anton, and Madeira.
Please share any experiences---good or bad that you have had with ANY embroidery threads..
I have not used the following and have no idea about the following that I have seen in various places: Brother, Hemingworth, Superior.
All ideas/opinions/experiences are welcome.
Thank y'all (as we say in the SOUTH:):)) and God bless you!!!!And Happy New Year!!!!!!

I have a friend that wants to sell all her Metro Threads (1000 mtrs). She has all the colours....
They are about 1.5 years old. Her machine doesn't like poly.
Send me a Private Message if interested and I will give you her e-mail address and other info on cost and shipping...
Hugs Jerri

All my machines love Metro, and it is the best price!

Some machines behave like children; they have specific needs. LOL. ThreadArt poly stiches flawlessly in my machine. Depending upon the type of embroidery she does, she may wish to invest in some poly, rayon and cotton.

I have a babylock and it likes Marathon, Madiera, and Metro thread. I too try to stay away from coats and clark embroidery thread though I do use coats sewing thread with no problems. I think the coats and clark thread for embroidery is rayon, that I have and it just doesn't seem as sturdy as most poly threads I have used. I have also used isacord, I love the thread Chris uses though it's just too pricey with those covers. I've not used it though, I bet it's great too!
The main issue on Babylock machines is the bobbin thread which is very picky. Mine is the Ellageo 2003 model. Sharon

Thank you---I too have had SEVERELY BAD issues with coats and clark embroidery thread---and also as you said-no problems with the C&C sewing thread---I found it interesting and informative what you mentioned about the rayon threads and the sturdiness of polyester thread---thank you for your new insights--God bless you.

Love the Superior bobbin thread - no lint at all! My machine doesn't mind sulky on top but doesn't like their bobbin thread at all. I also like the Brother bobbin thread the 60 weight. Didn't know they had a 90 weight until the other day. Got some metro polyester thread and so far so good. Usually try to use Isacord or Brother. My machine is fussier about bobbin thread than top thread. Agree that every machine is different and I would not invest in a big way until I knew how it sewed out.

I also do not care for the Sulky bobbin thread---the top embroidery thread usualy does OK for me as you mentioned---You also mentioned the 90 weight Brother bobbin thread---I found the 60 weight Brother bobbin thread to work well---I wonder if anyone out there can tell us the difference between 60 and 90 weight Brother bobbin thread and if one is any better than the other---and a tremendous observation---don't invest in a big way until you know how the stuff will work---I have done that before and a lot of money down the drain--so I usually find someone to give it to who can use it--thank you and God bless you.

Both of my Brother machines like Metro thread. I also use their prewounds (plastic sided) with much success. I would try a couple of spools before buying a big lot of anything - so you can see what THAT machine likes....

I have TONS of Floriani thread--have never tried Metro---there are some colors that I am getting close to needing to replace---they should work on one of my machines--thank you and God bless you.

My Brother really likes the Sulky. It especially likes bobbin thread for embroidery too. These machines can be finicky.

YOU SAID IT THE WAY I HAVE DISCOVERED MORE THAN ONCE----they can and are FINICKY----that is such a perfect word to describe machines----they may be the same brand but each one seems to have its likes and dislikes--thank you and God bless you...

I have found the most success with Brother bobbin thread----I use 60 weight but someone above mentioned 90weight bobbin thread by Brother---I have not tried 90 weight---and I know LITTLE about 90 weight bobbin thread---I have had good success with Robison-Anton, Jenny Haskins metallic, Sulky Madeira, and MOST positivve experience with FLORIANI threads----HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES with coats and clark----C&C Ok for regular sewing but NOT FOR EMBROIDERY is/are my experienes with C&C--thank you and God bless you.

I have metro and from threadart and have no problem with either one. I have one spool of Hemingworth and I have breakage with it every time I use it. I have used serger thread (cheap brand) and now a couple of other brands of embroidery thread and no problems. I think it's a matter of choice.

Hemingworth I have seen advertised on Amazon---it looks like it comes with some kind of plastic cover---I wonder if that is good or bad----it is interesting what you mention about having it break and that you have tried other types of thread with success----such interesting ideas--thank you and God bless you.

Some machines seem to be fussy about the thread they'll get along with, some not so much. I have Janome machines, and they'll sew with just about anything, never a problem. Except with a certain Floriani rust color, and couple other Floriani colors, so I stay away from that. I use the inexpensive thread from Metro a lot, and just love it. I also have Robison-Anton, and Isacord, both are very good brands, no trouble with them. Just a thought, before you invest in a whole lot of just one brand, how about trying some of each brand that's easily available to her, see which ends up being the best? Mail order stuff is great, but not if you need something in a hurry, or just need one spool, or are trying to match a certain color. That's why I use Metro for a lot of stuff, they had a sale & great shipping on 50 spools, all colors I'd use. But for just one spool, or special match colors, I end up at my dealer, thus the R-A, Isacord and Floriani. Hope this helps, good luck and hugs, Marji

I am hearing so much about diferent brands that I have never used but will probably try them----I have a lot of Floriani and Sulky----and the idea of one at a time at the dealer is how I usually end up replacing them----thank you and God bless you.

I use the following threads, Sulky, Madeira, and Metro. I have not had any problems with any of them. My machines are all made by Janome. I do prefer the polyester as to the rayon. Hugs, Mary

The same names see to be coming up as to dependability---Sulky, Madeira, and Metro---and polyester over rayon---interesting that many come up with the same brands for dependability---thank you and God bless you.

I prefer Robison-Anton. I also use lots of Floriani and Superior because they are cheaper, but they tend to split when cut, making rethreading them more difficult. My favorite metallic is Kingstar as it seldome breaks even when embroidering at a higher speed.

I don't have this machine. My brother is a 2500 D and I do mostly fsl designs. I use many types of thread on my machine, from coats and clark & coats to serger thread and others. Depending on the thread depends on the lint build up. I also use a thread stand behind my machine. So very rarley do I ever have any problems. If anything experiment with different types to see what works the best for you or her. I wish you luck

Interesting thoughts and ideas---can you give me some info on using a thread stand---I have 2 single thread stands and am unsure about how to properly use them and when and why to use them---lint build up is also a thing I had not thought of-----thank you and God bless you.

Stands are Great! I have always used Stands! and if you Think about it? even the Commercial Machines have their threads through Stands, you have to get the threads lifted and up away from the machines. if the thread is not behaving right? then work on the machine, top tensions, and, then check the Bobbin tensions, and adjust! they adjust for a reason, do not let anyone tell you not too! If the machine does not like what you gave it adjust until you get it right! the back of the stitch out should look like a (Oreo (Cookie) 1 part top thread/one part Bobbin/one part top thread/ if not then adjust until you get it! Example
if top thread is Black? then it will look
( Black / White / Black) in equal parts.. it is up to you to get it looking right! if a Tech. tells you that you must use a certain Thread then he is a Very Bad Tech... I worked for a Bernina shop for 2 years and I have been doing embroidery for almost 20 years, and doing Commercial Décor apparel for Local Business in my Area for 9 years, and have Stitched up to 300 hats at a time and over 400 polo shirts at a time, and this is what know.. all I want to do is help. I have warn out 3 Berna's and 1 Brother ULT 2003, and Own a SWF T1501 Commercial now! if I can help anyone I am here.. I own Thousands of Spools of threads and buy them in the huge size Spools. I have 5 or 6 different Kinds, make your machine like them. but I do agree with everyone else, C&C does not go in my Machines.

Good morning "osueo" - I can't recommend Hemingworth highly enough. They have beautiful colours, have their own little plastic encasing and I've used them in both my Brother Quattro and the Husqvarna Designer 1 with absolutely no problems. Of course the Brother thread are fabulous too and I use them in both machines. I've not used Superior, but have Robison-Anton and Metro Embroidery thread that I bought through Shirlene and they are great too. I think it's a personal preference though and if I were to give my opinion I'd choose Hemingworth.

The bad experiences I've had with my threads were with threads splitting and mostly black - as it's dyed a few times and therefore weakens the thread. I prefer Polyester to Rayon but that's just my personal preference.

I hope you get lots of replies with regard to this question. Love and blessings Chris, Newcastle, Australia.

Thank you for all your ideas and information----I guess polyester is the way to go-----Rayon must break and not last as long according to what I have read---and black thread splitting----that also is interesting to learn----I thought it broke a lot---now I know that I am not alone in finding that out---thank you and God bless you.
