My friend has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and will start treatment soon. I would like to embroider her something to let her know I am thinking of her. Any ideas of nice embroideries?

Many thanks for any and all suggestions

The Sonia Showalter angel mentioned below is my favorite but there are jillions of "pink ribbons" designs around. Run a Google with breast cancer embroidery designs and many will show up, some free. Someone had squares to make a quilt but I cannot remember who right now. Something I use a lot is a plain purchased tote bag that then had designs for a breast cancer patient/survivor stitched on. It is just right for taking a book and snacks for use during treatments.

You already have some great ideas. Why don't you embroider some 3D flowers to put into a vase. They will always be blooming for her.

My sister collected lots of knitted hats for when she lost her hair. She used them daily!
Here are some free breast cancer designs you can use.

When my sister and I went to her treatments for breast cancer, I tried to make something to make her laugh. Maybe a book that she can add a special page with your embroidery design made specially for that treatment day. That way she would have a new item to help lift her spirits each time she goes for treatment. Perhaps the embroidery might be mounted on a page that would leave her some room for journaling. After her treatments have ended, the designs might be made into a lap robe for her to use at home.
Laughter is the best medicine for this time, but she might not be ready to laugh yet. You as her friend will know best when to introduce laughter into your designs.

how about a FSL Angel...Sonia Showalter has an Angel of Light Cancer Awareness one that is free. Just add it to the cart and you won't be charge. Did one with a homemade card for my friend and she kept the angel with her for her treatments as a reminder that I was thinking of her.

You could start on a set for her of items with matching embroidery. She may need a large bag to carry her xrays. Later on she may need a bag to hold her drainage bottles if she ends up needing/choosing a mastectomy and a soft crescent shaped cushion for slinging under her armpit after surgery. A mugmat with an awareness ribbon might be a good start, then you could progress from there as required. If you'd prefer not to use an awareness logo, a simple 'thinking of you' design would also be nice.
