So many of us have been having problems with computers and back up systems failing. So I have been making a secondary back up. I just used a thumb drive and have been slowly backing up the designs to it from Cute and her sister sites. I bought one for each of the sites I have paid designs from or paid memberships. I have been backing up one site at a time. And as I DL new designs I add them to my back ups. It is not easy and is taking a lot of time, but if one system fails, I hope to have at least 1 system left to save my designs. I hope this helps someone. I wish I had done a second back up plus the external hard drive when I first started collecting designs.

The comments and ideas below are AWESOME!!!!!!
I never even thought of some of these ideas.
My computer is/was slow--Hubby was copying all on to an external hard drive and it slowed so badly----It took 30 minutes to pull up AOL---Floriani would come up slowly----but AOL was impossible---so I had to do downloads on my husband's computer----so we broke down and purchased a new window from OFFICE DEPOT!!!!!! It came the next day with the little UPS guy----I told him as he brought up the box that he was my second favoritIST man in the whole world----so now I am trying to learn a new computer and get embroidery software installed on it-----thank heavens I save designs in 4-5 or more places and back them up occasionally---and now there is something called a "CLOUD"---I have NO IDEA what it is, but I am sure I will learn soon. So glad this topic was brought up. God bless y'all!!

Big warning about Thumb Drives. If you pull them out before your computer tells you to do so it could cause you to loose your designs. Ask me how I know. I had backed up design on an external drive but, not those for the past 4 months. My husband went to carbonite to retrieve most of what I had lost. We bought a years subscription and now everything is backed up automatically on my computer and to an off site server somewhere (no one really knows where). It is worth it to me.
Saving to CD's are much more reliable than thumb drives.

I have restored from Carbonite more than once. It is the best way for storage.

I have had my thumb drives for years with no issues. I ALWAYS click the button to prepare it for removal and wait to be told it is safe to remove.

I too use the thumb drive, plus I have all backed up on CD's and also on an external hard drive. Hopefully one will work if it is needed.

I copy a month's worth from the flash to a cd (actually, 2 copies), copy that to my external. Flash drives are just hard drives, and can fail, too.
