Shirley, a friend of mine uses Hemmingworth thread and loves it.
It is very expensive here in Australia compared to the Isacord.
I use Isacord & Brother threads for my Brother machine - LOVE the Isacord.
I have been very happy with Isacord thread on my Brother machine. Sorry, I have never used Hemmingworth.
HI Shirley, I must have missed this post. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HEMMINGWORTH THREAD! Beautiful range of colours and I love the cover, you can just pull the thread up through the little plastic cap and voila! thread your machine from it. Good luck with your quest. My other favourite would be Robison Anton. Love Chris
I stumbled upon a sewing store, going out of business and all embroidery thread was only 50 cents for each spool. I bought a collection of Hemmingworth embroidery thread and I really like it. The colors are nice and bright and I really like the plastic cover.
I use it, really nice sheen compared to some other poly threads.
Runs smooth in machine. Love the caps, stores so neat.
I like the caps. The local dealer here was running it down. Says it has no oil in it and causes problems with embroidery. I think it was sour grapes as another dealer gives a good price on it. Shirley
I have never heard of Hemmingworth. Perhaps Eyre Peninsula is a bit like Saudi Arabia, of the beaten track slightly. ha,ha.
I have never even heard of Hemmingworth thread but then i have been living out of the real world for a while! lol (Lived in Saudi Arabia for 11yrs!) I have a Bernina and use Isacord thread. I bought a kit with 400 colors and have been very happy with it. A nice sheen to it as well! However, I was just recently introduced to 'Glide' thread and I have to say, I like it just as much and it too, has a really nice sheen to it.
Thanks for your reply. I have never heard of Glide thread. I have some Isacord and like it ai well. Shirley
Yes, it works fine in my Janome. It's especially nice when you're stitching a design with lots of thread stops because you don't have to load the various Hem. colors into your spool pin or on your thread stands. Just nudge 'em up near your machine. Has some really beautiful colors I haven't been able to duplicate elsewhere like Dried Banana lovely pale yellow) and Rum Raisin - between wine and burgundy, and so rich.
Thanks for your reply. My friend uses them in her Janome also. They do have some lovely colours. I will see how I go with the couple of spools I have. Shirley
Shirley, I only use Sulky and Mettler, not because I'm a thread snob, but my Bernina is! She complains loudly when I try anything else, so I just gave up and let her have what she wants. It's like feeding a toddler, you just want them to take in something. So, if you machine will tolerate any name brand and it looks good to you, use it. That's my humble opinion.
Yes I agree, some machines are fussy as to what you feed them. They are just like children.
Never used Hemmingworth...I use mostly Metro Thread...love the colors and sheen, it is polyester and can be bleached with no harm and it is very reasonably priced...
I got the whole set of Metro threads and have been very disappointed. A lot of breakage for my Viking Designer Topaz. I wish it would have worked for me, very reasonably priced. But they say you get what you pay for. :( I have a ton of thread that I can't seem to use.
I use Madiera and always have used it because all of my machines seem to like it. Best wishes for you to get answers that will be helpful.
I have quite o lot of Madiera and Isafill. I like them both. The Hemmingworth is a little cheaper. Shirley
I use Hemmingworth and I really like it
That is good to know. I have a couple of reels so will see what I think before buying more. Shirley
