Hi Kerry - that photography is brilliant. Your grasshopper is great. We haven't had grasshoppers for a long time but ours seem to be small dried-grass coloured, spiky, pesty little jumpers and I hate it when plague hits us. Is that a gerbera? I love the colour.
AlmaG.
Hear! Hear! I would also like to say Great work by all. This site is just a wonderful place. It is my second home. I just love seeing all the projects etc. I love your flowers, lovely colours. Also great picture of the grasshopper. Shirley
shirley, yes this is surely like a home away from home even though this computer is in my home.....thanks for your comments...I absolutely can not live without flowers...
Kerry . Hellooooo. The Sth Burnett must be having some beautiful weather to produce such a stunning plant/flower. All i seem to grow here in Sydney are weeds. HELP WANTED heheheee . Love your comments. Hugs to you :)
Well, at least at the time of typing this reply you have 33078 flowers in your Cutie garden..............or are they weeds? lol
Hey Pauline, yes we have actually had some rain, 3 and a half inches one night last week, yippee,,, filled one of my tanks...Today I transplanted some sweet peas that came up from last year, plus some snow peas and beans...just got a supply of seeds in the post today also...but tomorrow I am off to my daughters for 3 days, plan on taking my sewing machine with 2 cards with designs on to stitch out...giraffe's of course for GD's quilt. got to make the most of every day, where ever I am...then back home on weekend to do more gardening, boy I wish my hubby was not so down and out with his health...oh well I not complain....love ya....thanks for message...Kerry
Well, Mrs muflotex was spot on. It is indeed Monarda didyma, preferred common name is Bergamot but has numerous other common names such as Bee Balm, Bee Balm Tea Plant, Lad's Love, Robin-run-around, etc. I have put the link below.
Dennis I am not so sure this is it, I did check it out and it is similar but not exactly the same. We won't give up.
How lovely. It's a good day to soak up some sunshine and pull weeds. I'm heading out in just a few. Love your pictures and thank you for your comments. You can comment some of the projects all of the time, and all of the projects some of the time, but you can not comment all of the projects all of the time. (with apologies to Mr. President, Abraham Lincoln.)
:-) thanks Jerrilyn. Weeds, don't ya hate them, I never seem to stop pulling them..they love me...
lovely flowers, my pick on the first one would be Monarda didyma just before bloom, love those in all colors (north american native health plant) smells good too and I am full with you on the keeping up here on cute on somedays it is just flowers to all and comments or help or questions when possible with love
thank you, I did look at the link Dennis posted, and it is similar I would like to do more research on this now, you have all got me intrigued, I usually just admire it, not think of what it is called....yes a lot happening on this site with lots of links to view....hugs to you, Kerry
Gorgeous photos...I especially love the top flower...I, like, Dennis and Chris, would love to know more about it should you have the time to find out...it looks like a snap dragon gone wild! I, too, enjoy seeing and hearing about everyone's projects and life adventures and sometimes miss the opportunity to make a personal comment...I am sure we are all guilty of this at one point or another...
yes this is such a big site and many posts, too many for me I am afraid. yes I could not get over how beautiful this flower was, I think I took about 100 photos of it, well almost...
Gorgeous flowers. It must be hard to tear yourself away from the flowers to stitch. Would these two photos be beautiful as a design.
Oh it sure is, actually I think I do garden more that I stitch, we have 5 acres and it is very time consuming, I cannot stop making new gardens or planting more trees. I am more than happy to allow anyone to digitize either flowers. The top one is a true stunner...hugs from me,,,kerry
Kerry I second your excellent comments. As with the others who have commented on your pictures they are beautiul
thank you my friend, but I will certainly try to answer all I get with this post...I have been out gardening again today, I not only garden at my place I try to do lots at my daughters also. I must be crazy, I have just told my daughter she is not allowed to mow a certain section at her place, as I love lawn, I am sure she loves dirt...think she got the point....
Beautiful pictures Kerry. You are obviously a good photographer as well as all your other qualities. I too would be interested to know what flower you show in the top picture. I've been hunting through all my gardening books and haven't found it yet, although it seems very familiar to me.
thank you kindly, yes I love taking photos of my garden delights. I will ask my friend if she knows the name, It is a bush and does get a few flowers at a time. I love it also...
Kerry, if you can tell me anything more about this plant, I would love to search my books. For example, is it an evergreen, deciduous or perennial? How big is the shrub and what time of the year is it in flower? Does the bract of flowers remain as per you photo or do the individual flowers open further? I know it's a lot to ask.................so only if and when you have time. Thanks.
No problem Dennis, I will be away for a few days, but on the weekend I will try to take more pics and show you. The leaf is green on top with a purple under side. very lovely to.
It flowers in the cooler months. That is as far as the flowers go and then they die. The bract is sort of hollow and it does not open up. hope that helps for now, but don't give up you all have me interested in this plant now to to find the name. It does not like too much water. till later, Kerry
Lovely Picture. I saved it and am going to make it my background for awhile. This grasshopper is greener and prettier than the ones in my area. It looks more like a praying mantis, my favorite bug!
Thank you, I have to say I am naughty and squash these grasshoppers as they eat all my plants, and I don't like to use chemicals...but trust me, there are still plenty around. hehehe....
Love them Kerry, what is he first flower it's gorgeous? Love Chris
thanks Chris, well I actually have no idea what the name of that lovely top flower is, a friend gave me this plant when ii was about 6 inches tall, I had it in a pot for so long and decided to put it in the garden, well it took off and this was the result...
