I have been watching B3 since she was first posted here at Cuties. I love that little bird :) I found some videos of her on youtube. Her first flight and one of her parents watching/waiting for her in the nest was too cute. Then, there was the video of her coming back to the nest after her first flight. She came in with a bang! I check on her several times thruout the day. They changed the approach camera angle today, so possibly we can see B3 flying in or out.
She has fledged. It will be a few more days before she leaves permanently, but she's ventured out. This was her second flight and if you have facebook, you can go to the Berry College page and watch the recorded flight. It's been spectacular watching and learning from you B3. Be safe!
Thanks Jerilyn. I have been checking in every day since I read your post. Yesterday I couldn't leave for a long time. I was fascinated with the way the little one was fed. Haven't seen both of the parents at the same time yet. Love watching the progress. Awesome!!!!
I have loved watching the Eagles! The second egg, they have decided, won't be hatching and it's gone now from the next. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
I was able to watch both the momma and the poppa feed the eaglet! Just amazing!
Fascinating. I hope to catch a view later of the eaglet.
Just popped in to take a peek. That bird keeps winking at me.................
Update from this morning 26Feb.2014
Good morning, eagleholics!
It has turned cold again in Georgia with a low tonight expected about 19 degrees. Meanwhile, our little eaglet continues to feed and grow in a noticeable way!
Many of you are concerned about the second egg. It is starting to look doubtful that it will hatch. Our experts will make a determination on Friday and we will let you know. Even if the egg doesn't hatch, the parents will likely continue to sit on it until it disintegrates. It is not unusual for an egg to fail to hatch--it's very common throughout the bird population. It happens for various reasons and we will never know for sure.
Thank you , that was amazing sorry is amazing. Here in the east of England I'm watching baldheaded eagles in America. Isn't technology wonderful? Jo
Well, it's 5:56 a.m. at your end (10:56 a.m. here in UK) and they are both still fast asleep! Obviously they like their lay-ins in the USA! Bit of a breeze there at the moment ruffling his/her feathers.
Almost 8AM and she's sitting there patiently getting rained upon. Maybe the wee one kept her up last night with feeding every 2 hours. Remember that?
Thank You! I love watching these! We saw two bald eagles and one golden on Sunday when we drove over a high mountain pass in Colorado! They are just incredible!
The web cam is wonderful! I do not know about Berry College as I am a Tennessee girl transplanted to Georgia 40 years ago. My son-in law's middle name is Berry and when I asked my daughter about it, she said the Berry College Berry. Maybe I should ask more questions as what is the connection. I know his parents meet at Emory at Oxford which is only a few miles from me and a delightfully beautiful campus. They are Georgia people on both sides. Kay
There may be quite a family history there with the Berry's. You will have to fill us in.
Our great niece graduated from Berry a year ago! Lovely college. My hubby was born in that town. Tks for posting the link! I'll have to have him look at it too!! The bald eagle is making a good comeback. Tks to colleges like Berry and the Eagle group connected to Dollywood. We actually saw one fly across Alcoa Hwy last year, right in front of us. I couldn't believe it!
thank you so much for sharing this site with us. Its so nice to see nature in action especially with our majestic national bird.
It's amazing isn't it? I'm so happy there are people who care enough and know what to do to keep these beautiful animals from extinction.
Ok I wonder if they will get mad at me for watching all day. OMG the baby is so cute. Thanks for letting us know about this. Love it.
Just popped in for my early morning viewing. The parent appears to be doing a bit of housework around the nest (probably the male).
All creatures great and small...sleep peacefully while God watches over all. I've never seen anything like this before. It appears the nesting one is asleep too.
Right now, 10.11a.m. Tuesday Feb 25, Sth Aust. time, one parent is pulling off small pieces of meat and trying to feed the chick. It is absolutely delightful. I think it might be the father and he is being so gentle and careful. The unhatched egg is just behind the chick and both are being protected by the mother.
Thank you for letting me share this time of joy.
The nest cam does not seem to be working this morning. wonder if the second egg hatched.
It's been on and off most of the morning here. They are aware as I see they have posted about this.
It is the male. The female has a black spot on her tail. I think she is larger than he is.
It's going now, but if it goes out permanently, it won't be fixed until the babies fledge.
Thanks Jerrilyn, I have got loads to do today, but now that I see this I wonder how much will be left on the list tonight. A lot I think :)
I know, I've just been fascinated! 4yr old grandson is here and he asks every 5 min, "Did it hatch, yet?"
Love it! Watching Mama and baby for an hour! I will never get anything done!
It is a good thing those little ones have two parents. I didn't see the one this night getting hardly any sleep at all.
This is really cool thanks for the link.
I sent it to our Scout leader at church so he could get the boys to watch.
Oh, this is fantastic!! I know it's night, and she was sitting so quietly, but then she decided to clean her wing and I got a peek at the chick!! And there also seems to be another egg, wonder when it will hatch? Well, if I'm not here, you'll know where I'll be.....
She's been trying to get that little stinker to be still and go to sleep for an hour. I'm not sure that she isn't just holding him down now. I saw her put her neck over him once, but he slipped right out.
I noticed, for nightime, he's very active! I figured he'd be asleep, I'm sure he must have been fed, think a full tummy would make him drowsy. Unless he's ready for "seconds", hee hee hee. You can see momma just wants to sleep.
Just watched some more. It's night now over there and one of the adults (probably mum) is sitting. She is constantly awake, surveying the scene around her, listening to every sound, I suspect. Beautiful bird.
I watched her feed the baby this afternoon. Mike said he thought she caught a mouse, but I preferred to think it was a grub worm or that she ran to the local grocer for supplies.
Thank you for sharing this Eagle Cam -- full of wonder and beauty.
What a wonderful visual, I was watching the little one bob and weave, I didn't see the other adult come on scene until the one ruffled feathers. I know I shall enjoy this a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Martha Berry would be so proud. Thanks for showing us.
I think that this is truly wonderful. What a majestic bird and so delicate feeding the youngster. Thank you so much for posting this link Mrs. J.
The only problem is that I'm going to be up all night waiting for the second egg to hatch.
Well, maybe you can do a screen shot if you catch it, because although I'm enthralled, I won't be giving up my beauty sleep to watch.
Thanks for this I will enjoy having a look. This is one of the bits of Cute that I love.
