Lovely pictures thanks for letting us look hugs Carolyn
She does not look fifty. I should look so good! Lovely family!
Wonderful picture, you have a lovely family.
I think I may be getting high reading about your High tea, high plates and such. I'm going to go practice cocking my little finger now.
Many thanks. I forgot to cock my finger while drinking my tea. I hope the waitress did not notice. lol Shirley
Thank you for sharing these lovely photos!
Hugs, Lidia
Beaut piccies Shirley and isn't Chris and Alan's son Stephen a tall lad? I love High Teas, one of my favourites is here in Newcastle, and I am sure there are some lovely places in Hobart too! Glad you had a lovely time. Love Chris
Stephen is Ralph and my son. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. Yes he is tall. Gets it from my side of the family. His son who is only 15 is only 2 inches under him and still growing. Love Shirley
How funny, I thought gee she must have been really young when she had him!!!!! Glad you straightened me out. Anyway, great family get together for all of you. Love Chris
asterixsew wanted to know what a HIGH plate was. Here is a picture showing the 2 tiered plates with the food. The HIGH plate was the joke of the afternoon LOL Shirley
I have worked up wards in re reading this so now I understand what you mean by a high plate. Posh plates to display cakes and sandwiches in places that serve afternoon tea. Though I was brought up in the north of the UK where this type of meal is high tea http://www.theritzlondon.com/tea-...
shows what is on offer in a posh hotel in London and the 'high' prices
The high plate was a bit of a joke. I guess the price was HIGH as well. S-I-Law was paying so I do not know the cost.. We live in the country and do not eat out very often, so yes it was posh to us lol I agree with Dennis you can't beat a pot of real tea. Shirley
Lovely pictures. Clearly, a good time was had by all.
For the benefit of all you 'convicts' down there, you may find the following links helpful. Cucumber sandwiches, indeed! LOL
Many thanks for the link Dennis. I see they serve the food on 3 tier plates over there. We convicts down here cannot afford the extra high ones.
We did all have a good time whatever you call afternoon tea.
I know we live in the Antipodes Dennis, but we have retained some of the finer qualities of our English cousins he he he! Love Chris
Hey Chris......................I presume by that you mean the production of the likes of Home and Away, and Prisoner Cell Block H, do you?.............................LOL
Ooh! your are cheeky. You know I've never watched Home and Away, too cheesy for my taste. Now if it was Game of Thrones!!! Never watched Prisoner either. There have been a few dreadful series here in Aus, but I like murder/mystery shows. Love Chris
what a lovely surprise for your daughter, nice pics...
Yes it was lovely. Her Hubby & Daughter took her for a cruise on the river before the HIGH Tea.
Nice picks, just wondering what you eat at high tea?
We were wondering as well. Our S-I-Law is english and we thought we may get cucumber sandwiches. It was small sandwiches and small cakes served on a HIGH plate. I guess that is why it is called High Tea. LOL There was a choice of about 8 types of tea on the menu. One of them being Restfull Tea. Not quite sure what that would be. I think by what others were saying it is the in thing to do here in Tassie at the moment. Shirley
asterixsew see picture above and check out the links from Dennis. You will learn a lot. LOL Shirley
aw I reckon one that is about 6 to 8 inches off the table he he he! Sorry, just had to say that!! Love Chris
Thanks, I have eaten many a high tea being a northern lass. It was the reference to a high plate that I did not understand unless it is a cake stand that can be made from 3 tiers - layers of plates..
