Question; I recently got involved with a dog rescue group. Not a lot of money but they are in need of tags to identify these rescue dogs should one escape. Thought I could embroider some and donate them. Any suggestions on design and where to find it cheap or preferably free? Thanks

the USA Brother website had a dog tag freebie last month. You can download the pattern and project. Just change the design from pes to whatever your machine uses.

At the moment Embroidery Garden have a new set called dog tags. I thought of you straight away. I hope these designs can help for the cause.

A little like baydreamer, I've embroidered on webbing and made collars and have also created velcro/hook & loop wraps for existing collars with the organisation details embroidered on first. Well done for helping the animals -and the humans who also help them :)

I know this isn't embroidery, but one of our local rescue groups uses the wrist bands (narrow ones) like they put on in the hospital to use as collars for each animal. The information is inside the plastic covering, therefore not subject to rain, etc. and they are permanently clipped on, no buckles to undo or break. Of course they make sure the collars aren't too tight or anything like that. They might have gotten some donated by one of our local hospitals, but I might be dreaming that part. It might be tough to embroider all the information like name, shelter, contact number, etc onto cloth and then somehow get it permanently adhered to a collar so it wouldn't come loose or get chewed off by some of these pups. Just a thought, but your embroidery time might be better spent on bookmarks, t-shirts, bandanas, etc. for fundraising for the rescue group. Then you could use some of your other time to contact shelters and see how they solve the problem, and where they can get ID's cheap or free. As I said, just a thought. Thanks so much for any minute you give to these poor orphaned innocent ones, may God bless you greatly for your time and caring for them. Hugs, Marji

I guess the dogs where collars? I embroidered on ribbon then I sew it to the colour. Not sure if that would work but an idea.
