thank you so much Mops for this. It will look so neat in one inch squares. The trick is to iron the one and a half inch squres onto light wieigh iron on interfacing that has been pinned to a grd that showes through. You lay the squares down and iron them in place. any half squares have to be sewn together first. then when all the blocks are in place you simply fold along the lines and sew with quarter inch seam
Now I get it, I've seen that done in a Quilting magazin. Getting all those squares lined up nicely must take some patience. Ironing them in place sounds simple - i can see myself having the interfacing stick to my iron, and all sorts of other mishaps too. Baking parchment would help, i think. You know, I'd like to try it out.
Mops simple make a grid on paper and then lay the iron on interfaceing face up on top of it. The grid will show through, If you use a small iron you can hold the squares in place by just touching them Once you have done a section then go over them with the iron properly to secure the fabric n flace on the interfacing
It is very theraputic.
Yes, it would make a nice pincushion! Love the design.
Mops, it makes me really pleased that you did this for our eggyannie. Thank You. It is beautiful!
Thank you, but it is a bit different. Eggyannie said she thought it would look good as a mini-mosaic. I thought it could be a nice embroidery block, and I wanted to show her the result.
What size is this Mops ??There are many like this on Sewing forum by Barbara i tried a few of hers but they are way to small for my liking??Maybe a 5x7 would work well for Quilts or 6x6??Hugs and i love your design Keep up the great job:):)Carolyn
would not use them for quilts, it would use far to much thread. This one is 80 cm square, or just over 3" as I wrote below.
You are so sweet to give her your time in such a pretty, pretty way.
It was just a challenge I set myself when she said she would try it as a minimosaic.
Great for a summer porch pillow with multiple blocks of different color flowers or with one larger block. Thanks for a beautiful design.
Thank you. 4 of them would be nice on a pillow but would test my hooping skills. I might do that, thanks for the idea. On a white background I could leave out the white stitches (that is after I redid the underlay - I made a white general one that covers the whole square).
You are very quick and this is exquisite! This would be so much fun to do a nine patch and I can think of many things to use it for!
This one is rather small, just a bit over 3" I think it would be nice as an 8" square with woollen thread, soft pastels on a white woollen background, that would make a nice pillow.
This is lovely! You are quite right -- it would make a very pretty pin cushion.
This is like the quilt she posted, wonderful! What size is the design? Was her quilt pieced with fabric or was it embroidered? You sure did well designing it.-Toogie
It is 80x80 cm. It was the quilt that was posted. Eggyannie wanted it for minimosaic and I said it would make a nice embroidery design as well.
