Firstly Welcome, and now.. you have put so much love and work into this quilt it is exquisite.. the more you make the easier they become because we all learn an easier way to do it next time..
good job,may i ask where you got he applique pattern ?.
I bought the border of the blanket fabric at Holly Hobbie. It has several different pictures of the mouse on it. I laid it on my copy machine and enlarged it 4 or 5 times until she was huge. Of course, because it was so big, I had to piece the final picture together. Then I had to think of it as a large paper doll, dressing it from the body out. That's how I cut my applique pieces from fabric. I ironed fusible web onto the back of all the fabrics I was going to use and then cut the pieces out. First the face, then the black "body", then the red dress, shoes and bow, then the white eyes, gloves, belt and cuffs, and finally the tongue and the nose and eye black. After all the applique was done I outlined it in a narrow satin stitch, including the tail and eyelashes. Very time consuming but loads of fun. Now the letters are actual embroidery applique.
Looks good to me! Thanks for sharing your first project. I hope there will be many more!

Oh my goodness. Where were you when I needed you LOL. You know in all reality I made the job harder on myself. I researched how to bind the blanket and followed the 1st suggestion I came to. What a mistake. Later on I found the easy way and could have screamed when I saw how easy it would have been. Oh well, maybe next time?? or ...not.
You did a lovely job on this blanket & I am sure your granddaughter will love it! ~Hugs & *** & Welcome to our cute family! Loralye~
