would you like me to put 999 on speed dial for you so they can come to your rescue Poor thing how maddening to have to go through all that for the sake of your art, This shows just how devoted to it you are.
You do not say if it has all turned out well but hope it has
Annie in the UK near Droitwich
Thank you Annie..........and yes, all appears well at the moment although I'm not shouting that from the rooftops! lol
sorry for your frustration, but hey that's life! it is how you handle it that makes your life good. sounds like you handled it! sincerely, lynne
Hi Lynne. You are of course right. My problem is that the world is just going too fast for me to keep up...........lol.
Happy days.
HI Dennis,

I have all my embroidery and clipart ect on external hardrives I back these up every month onto dvd as well, I have two external drives a 500 gb and a 3tb, gosh reading this message back to myself and I sound paranoid lol..
big hugs from London xx
Thank you. I hope that all is well up there in the big smoke?
You sound very much like a computer wizard to me. I do have all my embroidery files on DVD and have just purchased a Seagate Backup Plus portable drive (1TB) and am currently trying to understand the instructions...lol.
Take care.
well so good to know and to see you're back in Cute business again,
Sorry for your dilemma Dennis....You still have all of us Cuties to cheer you up....Happy Days ahead hopefully
Oh come on Dennis - you know that the Brits are the best at queing!!! It must be a bad week for Cuties. The USB hubs on my computer all decided to die on Sunday. Sooooo I have ordered a new computer as mine is 10 years old and needs to retire. Thank goodness I can still get on to Cute but no embroidering for a while. Sarah.
So sorry to read about your own computer problems, Sarah. I did read your post regarding this and noticed the help you have received from that Rescuer lady.............just don't listen to her though, if she suggests that you also buy a new pair of scissors! I wouldn't want to see you being led astray as well as all the others.
Hi Dennis, it must be the time for computers to break down, go slow etc. I rang my technician Lee on Friday as I found the PC to be going too slow. He came and took it away and rang this morning to say it was ready and he apologised for being late. I had taken everything off that I wanted to keep and stored it on my external hard drive. Learned the hard way as my previous computer crashed about 4 years ago and I lost a lot of pictures of my Dad during the last year of his life. I was not a happy chappy, I can tell you.
I hope by now you have all of your issues sorted out and that you are back on line! I had a technician out for my Fisher & Paykel refrigerator on Thursday and the girl told me when I rang that there was a $135.00 call out fee, and if there was anything else wrong with it I would have to pay extra. Well, I thought whilst he was here I'd order another filter and get him to check everything - he only took 15 minutes to fix the initial ice and water issue and then I had two little plastic tabs under the doors that I wanted replacing. The filter arrived in yesterday's mail, so it was very excellent service. I wish you all the best with yours. Love Chris
Thank you Chris. I have just bought one of those external hard drive thingies..................if I can work out how to use it, I may try to load myself onto it....lol
Think they all hope we will die of stress and then they won't have to serve us any more.
Challenges and Opportunities as my Better half tells me! Welcome to the 21st Century! lol Hopefully your troubles are over. Leaha
Hi Dennis, what a shimozzle. I sympathize with your attempts to update. As a recognized technophobe I do not make any decisions without my family's involvement (God bless their patience). There is a whole new language out there, specially designed to confuse and be meaningless. Here in Australia we are getting a U Beaut broadband which will cost us a lot more, and according to friends so far connected takes longer to start up. Years ago we had an advert on TV for electricity spoken with a broad north of England accent .."What you can do with todays technology". I'd love to tell them just what they can do with it !!! Take heart mate, YOU ARE NOT ALONE"...Ann
Hi Ann, so I am not alone then with the technophobe thing. I can assure you that there was an entirely new language spoken here over the weekend but I shall not go into any details here! I have to agree...............they all talk funny up north but the least said......etc.
Oh Dennis I know how you feel. Being a mobile home (as in no land line just mobile phone and internet) I had a similar prob, Sent myself 4 i repeat 4 email pics from my phone to my hotmail. Well from the 17th feb till the 9th march it kept sending and sending and sending 2600 times. Then alll connections were just cut off, Good one says us unbeknowns of this prob. Mind you our server sent me a bill for $1499.13. Mini heart attack here. Anyways long story short and lots more grey highlights later , 5 trips back to the internet shop 6 disconnections we are finally back with just our normal acc of $113:05 a month. So yes Dennis i hear you. Please i also need donations... Not rags ... Designs greatly accepted :)
Sorry to have brought back the memories of your bad experiences. Regarding the donations, I have had a word with Ann and she has given me her permission to send you a selection of her designer clothes (this will give me the opportunity to reclaim some wardrobe space).
LOL Dennis...but who will donate the fees for shipping? LOL
Pauline, that is a horrible bill! Did you get them to reduce it as someplace there was an error...
Lucky for me they waivered it Phew. i was having coniptions with this bill :)
oh my goodness Pauline, what a disaster that must have been to live through...hugs Kerry
Sorry to hear of your frustrating problems. Glad they are now fixed and you are back here. Too bad I bought those expensive scissors yesterday. I could have donated the money to you had I known. But you are not going to get the scissor though. LOL Shirley
Thank you Shirley. I think you are very naughty buying more scissors. I think that Rescuer lady is encouraging everyone into extremely bad habits!!
Just trying to help the economy...someone has to shop. LOL
You have done your part paying for new equipment...inside wiring...we buy fabric, thread and scissors!
I feel your pain,,, I have just gone 2 weeks without internet our modem keeps dropping out ,hubby rings and they sort it out ,it last for a couple of weeks and then gone again ,they keep telling us to buy a new modem , (it never fixes the problem)we have now bought 4 ,but the problem still keeps happening ,this time he told them , we will not be buying another modem ,you fix it your end ,and Hey Presto 30 minutes later we are back, lets see how long it last this time , they do not seem to understand ,we are not happy to be paying for a service we are not getting,,,,,Oh yes and because the connection is in hubbys name they will not talk to me without his permission.
Are you sure that you are in Australia, only that sounds very much like the service we get here in the UK! And yes, we have exactly the same problem regarding with jobsworths here only being prepared to speak with the account holder. It's a mad mad world
Sounds like Telstra. Have you been to the Ombudsman? The ombudsman isn't too fond of Telstra.
Yep that's Telstra , and yes although I was born in the UK ,I now live in Australia
I am having the same problems with Optus. They charge me for a paper statement - which I don't want! But have been giving DH, in whose name the account is, the run around. But I am on to them. Watch out for this terrier!
Glad that you are back. Plug and go, huh? Not sure I would have fallen for that one. Oh, what am I saying? That's exactly the one I would have chosen! Sorry it didn't work out that way, but happy you are back to being Dennis. (no elaboration needed)
Thank you Mrs J. It was only out of concern for leaving all you lovely ladies in the lurch that provided the momentum to persist in resolving the problem....................honest.
ahh! electronics. Enough to drive a sane man/woman nuts. I have to use a satellite dish to get my Internet connection as we live out in the "sticks". A phone call on one of those wait-forever lines to Melbourne ( a mere 2500kms away) to get any help!
forgot to say.... the plus side was that the Australian Government provided all the materials(dish and fancy black box) and the labour free of charge, and back-up advice for a couple of years, due to our isolation.
I do, so empathise. I too wish we could return to simpler times.
I am struggling with a new Windows 8 computer. Wish I could go back to school. LOL
I know it seems like a lot, however I have been paying for "line insurance" for 20+years and used it once. I think you are still ahead. Glad you are back, no matter what the cost. Say hi to the Missus.
I am sorry you had all that trouble.
On a bright note -- I did get a new pair of scissors while you were out.
Stop sniggering!! I think that was a bit underhand using my absence for your own gains...lol
Dennis, we had lots of conversations, too, as the bandwidth was available, if you know what I mean..
I am so sorry it took all of this time and money to do what they say is a plug and go. I guess it plugged and went instead of what it is supposed to do. I am afraid I can't even give you scissors. the missing pair is still hiding somewhere. But welcome back.
Thank you. Have you checked in all those places I suggested for your scissors? lol
Welcome back and the new set up appears to be working fine though at a cost to yourself. It is so frustrating when one seems to be going round in circles trying to get something (simple) sorted
Welcome back Dennis, my heart bleeds for you, queing is no fun, especially not to part with hard earned cash, and 'catch 22" situations drive me nutty! Cheers, Bev.
