Hi Pauline - hope that the water is drying out of things for you by now but I fear that might be wishful thinking. My daughter, in Murgon, Qld, even told me about 'a lot of rain this week' and it's left the area very humid but they are now planting seedlings to catch the warmth and water.
If you are sewing in a wet-carpet area would you be keeping an eye out for visiting snakes and things..... :{ ..... ?
AlmaG.
Hi Alma, Yes Qld has been having a bashing with rain. Arrrr Murgon, knew it well. We lived in Kingaroy "just down the road" Keeping my eye open Alma not for snakes but the 8legged creepies . They creep me . Lovely day today and door and windows wide open with ceiling fan flat out ")
Hey Meganne...........I didn't know that you hailed from Penrith in Cumbria and you even have a famous Bronze Age stone circle of your name.
Oh! Hang on, sorry, that didn't come out quite how I meant it to!! Well, anyway, it was said in the best possible taste..............................lol
Cancel all the above since I've just discovered that I was in the wrong Penrith....................Doh!
NAH I'm not westie Dennis, I was born in Strathfield NSW but my darling Mum came from 'Arrow on the 'ill at least that's how she said it. LOL!!!
I wanted to visit Harrow on the Hill when I went to the UK but the closest I got was seeing the name on the indicator panel in the Tube in London. :-(
OH dear, I just found this post, I'm so sorry.
It happened to me in the back room at Penrith, it had several inches of water on the floor and my stabiliser got soaked, luckily we had the tile floors then. It also somehow came through the windows, even though they were closed, it found its way in through the tiniest gaps and my sewing tables and the machines were soaked but it didn't cause any damage. We had to move all the timber furniture inside and try and dry it all out. And I worry about flooding up here.
Have already commented on your other post, saw that one first. Holler if you need help. hugs n love, me
Oh No! Pauline, wish I was closer I would be there to help. Hope it is not too bad, the storm really packed a punch this time. So sorry be careful with the craft books as the pages often stick together as they dry out... Big cyber hugs to you. Love Sally
Sally wish you were closer too. Not to concerned about the books. Hugs back :)
I am so sorry. This is awful and happened to me once. Insurance company made me rent a special carpet dryer. I big hose was placed between the floor and carpet and strong air was blown. It dried out the carpet in 3 days. You really do not want to have mildew forming. Good luck. I wish I could help
Angie i know the blower . My Daughter in Brissy had to have her beedroom carpet done this way after rain seeped in under the walls when there was the "cyclone" there a few years back. Thankfully i dont need that. Your luck has started to rub off as its on the drying cycle now :)
Suggestion; If you have a carpet shampoo machine or can rent one, it will probably be a good idea to use and the carpet can be semi sanitized as well as deodorized by using plain ole vinegar in the rinse water. This leaves a wonderful fresh smell. Lots of luck to you, sorry for the water logging. You have a wonderful sense of humor!
Rain rain go away....After a sleepless night . All i can do is leave the garage door open with the fan on. Luckily all 4 machine and scissors are OK. Just the floor, base of 3 sets of drawers and the bottom pile of my craft books. Thanks for your kind comments :)
Pauline I had not read this earlier but I have been thinking of you. I hope that you are able to get all sorted and dry asap. As I said in your other post if I were closer I would happily help sort with you
Oh Dear..yes this rain can be a curse sometimes....hope not too much lost Pauline....hugs Kerry
Sorry to hear about the flooding. Hope it didn't ruin things. We thought we were finished with snow but we have the ground covered in the white stuff again!!!
So sorry to hear this...good luck with the drying out process....
Thanks Kim , Just have to let Nature take its course , If on the sun would shine :)
Pauline, I'm so sorry! How awful for you. I guess you know what you will be doing the next few days. I hope nothing is ruined.
Jerrilyn sadly i have a busy week project wise so will be sewing in a wet room. All good though , could have been worse :)
It might be only wet carpet and books, but that is awful enough. Be very careful of mold with the carpet.
I know what you are going through as we also get flooded out on our ground floor when there is a lot of rain in a short space of time. Our storm drains outside the house just cannot deal with it. Hope you have not got too much damage to your precious sewing things. Sarah
We had a real doozie of a storm and it blew in under the door and end wall.. Luckly it was just the floor. All machines high and dry :)
I am so glad your machines are safe. Most importantly that you are safe. I wish I could come help or at least send you some of our dry weather.
Oh my goodness! Now that's what I call a "bad day" - hope the sun is shining now.
That sounds really scary - is it just your sewing room? I hope you can stay philosophical and consider yourself lucky in some small ways! Wish we call all pop in and help out.
Sue my sewing room is actually the detatched garage. Oh i wish you could all pop in and help :)
Oh, Pauline. You're not having a lot of luck lately, what with your internet problem and now this! There is nothing worse than flood damage but I hope that you will be able to save your fabrics and books.
Have to disagree with our Dennis, fire damage is much worse than flood and I pray to Him above I will never experience that, flooding is bad enough.
