I enjoy the Great British Sewing Bee, but I wish they would include other branches of sewing, soft furnishings, patchwork etc. and include sewing hints as suggested in an earlier posting. maybe they should change the name to The Great British Dressmaking Bee, but it is a lovely friendly programme..
I agree that it has been a lovely friendly series so far but I wonder if this is about to change. You only have to weigh up some of the looks that have flashed around the room during each project in recent weeks..................a bit like the one I got after announcing that Dave had been booted out! lol
Who would like to know who the winner is for 2014?
I wonder if they will replay them here Aust. We usually get all the BBC re-runs and other Pommie Programs. eg. One Born Every Minute, Embarrassing Bodies to name a couple of stunners.
that(above) may have seemed derogatory but in actual fact, I watch them both and quite enjoy them in a macabre sort of way
Oh............you are awful.................but I like you!! Actually, I resisted commenting last night after learning last week that you are 24 hours behind everone else (must be something to do with you living in the sticks). Not only that, but the 'look' I got last week was sufficient to fear into any man!!
Welsh Linda was a lovely lady but unfortunately her creations were up and down like a yo-yo from one project to the next. On balance, I believe the judges decision was fair. Although I hope that I'm wrong, I believe that the ultimate winner could be Yoga Lil!
I have to agree with Mrs. M., and say that I would prefer that the series incorporated meaningful instruction as an aside to the competion.
Sue, let me know when you are likely to be up and about to watch the next program or can I presume that it will be the standard 24 hours after the event,
Ho ho. I actually watched this one when it was broadcast!
I thought the yoga outfit was great - so nice to see something that wasn't a dress! Much more my style.
I would really like to see anything that wasn't dressmaking or tailoring.
I, too, am sorry there is no instruction for the viewers. The first two or three times they at least showed how to do a number of things. It would have been nice if they had shown how to construct a pattern for the sleeves, how to use the measurements taken (one of them the hight of the armhole) and how much extra needs to be taken for ease of movement. It was pure guesswork for all contestants.
It is instruction free sewing. Seriously there is a book available and there was one last year too both of which are for sale in my local remaindered bookshop
I managed to watch it more or less on my computer, we lost all programs here unfortunately. Missed last weeks altogether. My main thing is that we do not learn a lot from it and I must say my reception is very bad so does not help either. Would love to have more tips shown to us and maybe if the judges also tried to change things, with tips to us and see what they would make of the items would be interesting. Hope you have enrolled for next year Sue. You would be the star for sure!
Ha ha ha
I think that it would have been nice if all 4 had gone through. Now did you apply for next year or not? I still have a party dress that was made for me as a child by a friend of the family. The dress was made by the methods they used last night. A few years ago I was telling the friend that I still had the dress and one of my two used to wear it, she said she had never used a pattern and wouldn't know where to start with one
I'll have you know that I did watch last night but in view of 'the look' I got from a certain person for reporting promptly on the outcome, I decided that the better part of valor was to keep quiet!!
