I was fortunate enough to receive this new pair of scissors from dear hubby. After making rag quilts my hands & fingers are quite sore. I really don't care to make one until I forget how bad they hurt my hands. Well I have been asked for another but said I didn't think I could so hubby went out today & came home with these. they have a lifetime warranty & cut through heavy things like chipboard, vinyl & canvas even leather so if they can cut through that then they can cut through 3 layers of flannel right? Here's hoping

Love Fiskars spring things. Cutting used to be the worst part of sewing. Not any more. Word of advise - They're good, but they don't cut pins. I now have a pair of spring things for paper!!!!!!!!! DUMB, DUMB, DUMB

thank you Kim I am hoping they do the rag quilt & they seem to be very soft & quite easy on the fingers too

I can not tell by the packaging ...can you tell me if these have the spring action to help open them back up? Thanks for posting, hopefully these will help others too.

No there is no spring but they are really soft handle grips & they open & close really nicely! I have cut 3 layers & it is like butter

Thanks for reporting back, sounds like they are working wonderful for you. I'll need to give these a try.

The true test is; will he use them?

Never! LOL He knows how particular I am about my sewing room scissors & he used them once for paper & he had to replace them that same day, he has never used them since & that has to be some 25 years ago or more. LOL

Hi Loralye! Fiskars makes a rag quilt clipper. That's actually the name of them. They are perfect! I bought mine at Joanns a long time ago. Super Sweet of your hubby to buy these for you! Looking forward to a clip report when you use them. (hey Dennis, you might like to get a pair of these clippers too!) **Flowers to all**

I think these will be much the same, hubby told the clerk what I wanted them for & she told him these were the very latest & designed to do that & cut through so much more? So far so good.

I'm sure he would if I asked him to, he has to help out in someway when it is a gift for someone on his side of the family so that when his name goes on it, then it really is from him too. Thanks Zedna, ~hugs~

I cannot recall the post now but I recently posted a list of characteristics that were required in order for a pair of scissors to be classed as 'excellent' for use by embroiderers, dressmakers, rag quilt makers and their kith and kin. These scissors appear to meet one of those requirements namely, that they:

Should be manufactured to a standard capable of withstanding the arduous task of cutting mens toenails.

It is evident that your husband was thinking laterally when making his purchase and I congratulate him upon his judgement.

well if he were to do that then I would not be responsible for where those new scissors ended up lol

When Mr. Dennis sees how you have corrupted you handsome husband...mercy! We'll all need to duck and run for cover! LOL I've never seen anything like this, do hope they work well for you, as it's very hard to work when hands are beat up. He is certainly a keeper, to take such good care of you, enjoy. :P

All husbands, handsome or otherwise, are uniquely corrupted by their wives.....................it's called peace and tranquility by us put-upons.....................lol

Leaha by Leaha 05 Apr 2014

Have mercy on our poor souls, Mr Dennis, I do think corruption goes the other way. LOL
