My new duck billed applique scissors just came in the post. They look fearsome weapons, must go and play.

First experiment slightly disappointing. I don't think I was cutting any closer than with my ordinary scissors. I couldn't get into the corners either. Unfortunately I've run out of play-time for today!

I still use my ordinary embroidery scissors for the nooks and crannies, works far better than those super sharp duckbills. Also the fact that you have to go anti-clockwise around an object is not always the easiest way for me, depending on the corners clockwise seems to be more natural. But even so I would not want to be without them.

Now close your eyes Mr D.
I could also try and buy a pair of Jerrilyn's left handed ones, then I could easily work the other way round.

Oh Martine what a super suggestion

Nice...I have a pair and I like them, but, the duckbill is too big to get in tiny nooks and crannies and narrow places...

I do hope you are having a wonderful time playing with your new scissors. I am sure I will be giving flowers to a newly finished project very soon.

I love mine! My sweet hubby bought them for me as a surprise in the left-handed version, so no one else around here will bother them for sure! I live in a world of righties. Well, right-handed that is. I told them they should just assume I'm always right and that will save all us lots of time.

Awe Dennis, do you need a new pair of scissors too?
Don't despair -- we could start a charitable collection for you. That way you too could go scissor shopping. ;)

shozo1271 by shozo1271 04 Apr 2014

We could send him lots and lots of pics of our scissor collections, so he knows what he needs to look for when he shops for scissors!

You've got a lot to answer for Mrs. R......................or to be precise, your son! It was your joint effort that started all this. And you can stop stirring the pot Mrs. S!! lol

So, this year's Christmas exchange, scissors, and all to Dennis? Now, he's trembling. Dennis (and everyone) sorry if we seem obsessed with our sewing equipment and supplies, but only the best will do.

Does any one know how many pairs he has...other than his wife?

Nothing more fun than a new toy unless you factor in the feelings of completing the first project with that new toy. Hope you will have many happy hours together and that they make your tasks easier.

Congratulations Sue, I hope you enjoy them. I've got them, but much prefer my Canary curved applique scissors. Love Chris

Canary curved and now duck-billed Platypus scissors. Sounds like a menagerie to me...................lol

spendlove by spendlove 04 Apr 2014

Don't give me duck billed platitudes!

They were recommended to me to help with cutting close to the line on applique. My applique work is much improved, no fringes of fabric sticking out of the satin stitch. Good luck with them Sue. Jo

Oh brilliant and addition to the Dewsbury scissor collection. Enjoy them Sue. Now do you need to buy a second pair of them incase you loose these?

Please don't encourage her Caroline! I appreciate that Sue (along with a good few others of the Cute Community) is prone to losing things but I would suggest that she either fixes the scissors to her sewing bench with a very long chain..................or that she removes all the pockets from her wardrobe of trousers, etc.

Just trying to help.....................

Please let us know what you think of them Sue as I have also been thinking of getting a pair.

You don't need them, Sarah. After all, it's April already and if you didn't need them in January, February or March then you can get by. Do the usual thing and keep dropping hints to hubby and if you're a good girl, he may buy you a pair for Christmas..............................although not necessarily this coming Christmas.........lol

I love your helpful ideas Mr D, they might solve many a cash problem. But ... those scissors come in handy.

airyfairy by airyfairy 06 Apr 2014

Well if Sue does not like them I will continue with my curved blade embroidery scissors. As you so rightly say Dennis I have done without them so far this year.
