I love to watch it too, and don't walk away for fear of something going wrong .. plus there are thread changes that need to be done. Gotta feed the noisy monster lol.
A (male) friend of mine refers to my machines as "colouring in" machines .. if only it were so simple (most times it is but I don't tell him that) xXx
It can be our little secret, but you are right every embroider is pictures painted with thread...Thanks for that imagery...it's the only way I'll ever be able to paint. :)
I have been doing ME for about five years now and I still sit glued to the machine in absolute fascination.................
I have had embroidery machines since 1992 but am still fascinated when my machine stitches out a design, especially one I digitised myself. I may have intended it to stitch out a certain way, it is almost magical to see it come to life and what fascinates me most is the effect of the light on the stitch direction; that never fails to surprise me.
It's so nice that a digitizer isn't jaded to the wonder! I can only imagine the feeling of watching something your designed and digitized come to life. How exciting. Thank you for letting me know you still watch I thought until I asked that I was the only one. :)
I know what you mean. My machine is a little brat. If I leave her alone, she eats my project just to remind me that I'm supposed to sit and applaud her magical abilities.
I think that's why I'm so afraid to do a lot of different things with emb on it. For awhile I had more ruined then not and it was all operator error. Today I had one and couldn't recover the pattern or the piece but did and was able to follow what happened to make the goof... learned something new today. I'm thinking mine little brother is worse then a naughty kid! LOL
I think that is part of what drew most of us in to the hobby, whether we like to admit it or not.
I do the same - love to watch it stitch - especially a design I have never used before. And, I think it knows when I am gone.....
Mine sure does, I got up to get a drink of water, turned my back was less then 5 ft away and the racket of it stopping, jamming and tearing the fabric was heart wrenching! Luckily I was able to get it out of the machines mouth, told her she was bad girl and sat her by herself for a time out! Managed to fix the L-shaped tear and continued on. Had no idea what I was doing.
Too have trouble walking away from the stitching. I love to watch the design develop!
I have never tired of watching the designs stitch out. As sure as you leave the room for a few minutes the machine seems to know and breaks a thread or something else.
The breaking of the thread I can handle. It's those VERY LOUD thunks and plunks that put me on alert. I'm always afraid to return for fear it will be a pile of melted goo. LOL
I also think the digitizers do an amazing job ,i often watch my embroideries stitch out ,its like watching them come to life
Watching a design appear as the embroidery machine stitches out is magical. I never tire of watching a design stitch out even if I have seen it all before. I have found that my machines do have the ability to know when I have left them and then they stop or cause problems. So I have decided to stay with them and keep them company while they work
Earshot at least and that is short term. Some designs are more mesmerizing than others.
I am also amazed at how unique and exciting the designs come oujt when digitized right...frustrated when they are not....
I am guilty of this too. Even though I may have watched the stitch-out on the computer with my software, it still intrigues me to see the design coming to life. There have been occasions, on a large design, when I have fallen asleep watching but don't tell anyone I said that.
Have a young friend who's boyfriend just sits and stares at my machine. I have to tell him when to leave! He loves it. I'm amazed, but am used to it now. Just loved the finished product.
I spent a lot of time watching my machine stitch out good designs before I started to digitise myself!
