To get your stripes all running the same direction you have to have your stripes running in the other direction in the horizontal ones. Compare the red/green with the blue/yellow horizontal parts.
When you do that you can create nice corners too.
To show you what I mean I used my digitising software, that was easier than sewing the stripes.
I am not sure, but barber pole stripes would all run the same direction so I would think you would need to turn the top and bottom pieces to make the stripes run the same as the sides and would need to match the stripes on your squares so the stripes continue to run in continuous stripes. Hope this makes sense. I love the lavender. Hugs, Barba
I am not sure how to join at the corners? Can anyone tell me if I have to cut some one way & some the other way for the corners to match up?
Sew your strips together on the diagonal then cut strips on the horizontal line. Link to picture of strips on the diagonal.
Do I start the cut with the first one (purple) cut on the diagonal & the line up the pink one?
Thats what I would do. Then just stagger your strips as you go. Then when you think you have enough just trim the extra bits and then cut your strips.
I am not too good at explaing things. If need a better explanation go to quiltingboard.com I know someone there can help you.
