This hipster bag you've done looks lovely&particularly enjoy the bird print too. Wondered did you quilt it or find prequilted fabric? Thanks for sharing it. :~D
Look in post and photo #4,I quilted it drawing one inch squares,in a grid. Thanks I like the bird fabric, too.
Love your bag and the birdie fabric is adorable. Great job!
Toogie, you have graduated from booties, to hats, to being the bag lady. And I mean that in the nicest way. Love, love your bags!
This is brilliant toogie, I love it well done. Did you make it up yourself or is it a bought pattern? I need to downsize to this size as well after having shoulder surgery I can't carry anything to heavy.
I looked up Vera Bradley hipster and started with that look.A young mom had one at church and I like the size, style, etc.
What a great cross-body bag for going to quilt shows, etc. What are the measurements, please?
I cut it bigger, because when you quilt it takes some of the fabric up. I usually start the main body about 14" sq, before quilting, then use my 12 1/2" sq to cut after quilting.
Toogie...........I have seen your reply on the Ms Loretta Scholarship thread. You are a cheeky minx.........lol.
The words of that song go:
Oh, Dennis the Menace
He's a bundle of dynamite
and the things he says
and the things he does
Will make you shake with fright!
You are in trouble now.............................lol
Really lovely bag - I like the dividers inside, as well. Makes everything easy to see and keeps it all organized. Great job!!
Thank you,I like the organized pockets too.Everyone is different. My sister likes those big bags, that hold no shape, and everything goes to the bottom. Not me.She spends time digging for what she wants.I like it there so I can readily get to it,not waste time digging.(Allows me more time to shop for fabric-lol)
I like the fabric on this too, I love birds and I love houndstooth, keep it up and Vera Bradley should be very afraid. lol! These are very very very very nice Toogie, excellent work! Wish you were my neighbor, you would make me get off my kiester and get busy. Your fabrics are very Bradley worthy.
You can always visit! I like to have a playmate that likes to sew.I wish my mom, would have still been alive, when I got my first emb machine. She loved to sew and make things and my sister said she would have loved the embroidery machine.I said I know, this thought had already crossed my mind. VB has nothing to fear from me,I can't turn them out as fast as factory-lol
Beautiful job!!! I like the boxed corners - gives a bit more room at the bottom and doesn't make the purse look too bulky when full :-)
I like it because I didn't have to do the piping and bottom,I get lazy-lol-I think I may make the next one a little taller,if I box the corners,to make up for the loss. That is, if I remember-lol- I really need to make me some pattern pieces.
I am not a bag expert by any stretch of the imagination BUT I have to say that this latest creation is superb Toogie and it comes as no surprise that your daughter (and I'm sure others) would like one. My Ann would certainly love the pink in the material etc., so I shall not be showing her your pictures!!
I do have to disagree with you though on one point................there is no bag large enough to carry all the 'bits' that ladies appear to claim as being essential...........lol
I agree with you there, however as I have a problem with one of my arms,I had to down size.I suprised a man shopping one day.He needed to measure something and asked,"You ladies are known, for having everything in those bags, you carry..You wouldn't happen to have a tape measure?' to which I pulled mine out, and his jaw dropped-LOL...Are you sure you don't want to make Ann a bag? You need to show her,so you can stay busy....(I left you a response, in the congratulations to our new Ms.Loretta winner.Did you get it?...probally not since you are still speaking to me-lol
As far as the size of some ladies bags, some have to carry things for their hubby's too! Sometimes I take a small bag & hubby still wants to put his glasses or whatever in my bag...lol
What a nice bag
Love your fabrics

Wow, Toogie...you bring new meaning to the words "Bag Lady"
