When I posted my blue and white purse/bag,someone asked if I had something in the bottom,to hold it's shape and make it sit up.At the time I didn't but hubby finally got my piece cut for me.I just made a 'pillowcase/slip' for it and I baste stitched the end on my machine. If I need to wash, I can easily unpick/rip the stitches to slip it out.It is a piece of formica countertop, very thin, but stiff and light weight. He rounded the corners,so they wouldn't poke into my fabric.Last photo doesn't have piece in.It was an earlier photo, just to remind you.-Toogie

Hey Toogie, seeing all the replies below regarding the highly crafted base board for your bag (not the old sock it slides in to...lol) you could press-gang that hard working DH of yours into taking orders from other Cuties..............lol

What a great idea! Now my handsome hubby has yet another reason to go to the hardware store. He will need to stock up on formica for me. I'm glad your husband got stationed to Germany and your marriage has managed to last a brief 45 years. how is your vertigo?

Almost non-existent, thank you...As for as the marriage,I don't know how the years have gone by so quickly, but HE sure has got old.He started out 5 years older than me,now I just don't know-lol-The formica, hubby had left over, from making cabinets, years ago. It wanted to bow,so he said he held it over some heat and it straightened back out.If you knew some handyman, they throw scrap materials away.My daughter went one time to a construction site, where they were builing a house for their friends.Out of the scrap mouldings, etc. they manage to salvage, they made a beautiful 'fake fireplace/mantle.I am cooking right now, then off to church, but I will try to locate a photo of it,I think I have one.Remind me,I may forget.

"...........hubby finally got my piece cut for me." These things take time you know. There's a whole raft of technical skills and forethought that have gone into the crafting of that piece. Well done Sir.

He's a keeper, that stuff isn't real easy to cut and especially rounded corners.

toogie by toogie 19 Apr 2014

Yes dennis,I know these things take time...As i had given the measurements,he had to plug the saw in the electric socket-lol

He is a keeper sewilso,or I am....It has only been 45 years of marriage ,and we still don't know if it will last!.... Dennis will get a kick out of this.We married when he was in the armed forces. At the time there was a war going on.Before we married,he said if he was deployed to the war,we would not marry,as a good many were not coming home.Well, his orders were for Germany instead.I tell him,I wonder how many times over the years,he wished his orders would have been to go to war!-lol....I hear you laughing dennis

You have obviously got yourself a fine man there Toogie and may there be many more years to add to those 45.

lol! Toogie, my hubby told me he could never get married, and it's been 44 years I think.

You're a keeper too Toogie, we just can't be told we are obviously.
