I need your opinion on the thread painting for the cliff on my son's bedspread project. He is doing the embroidery and we have just started this big project. This is his plan the wizard is to stand on a cliff and the dragon in the air is to be popping out from behind something just can not remember what. There will be another dragon in the upper left hand corner guarding a magic crystal ball. Phoenix flying I think two in the air on the upper right side somewhere.

Should I add more to the cliff now or wait and see what all happens with the rest of the project.

Thanks for the input everyone. Not sure when we will be working on the project again due to our work schedules, but I will post updates.

These designs are lovely.
I would play with the placement of all designs by using prints of them before actually stitching them. When all is done you could thread-paint a few things if necessary. Draw what you want to do with dressmakers chalk (easily removed) and see if that improves the whole scene. A simple example: a few lines as the dragon's flight paths might tie all elements together. Given the wonderful ideas you and your son have I am sure you'd come up with something stunning!

WOW this is really gorgeous and I can't wait to see the finished project. I like how it looks. I think I would also wait as the other two ladies have said. Can you print out the other components and place them on the background for compositional effect? That might help you decide 'what' if anything else is needed to follow his story line. :) Leaha

I would wait & see what all is to be added otherwise you may not have room to add anything else on the Cliffside. I think this is looking really neat so far! ~hugs~

Wow I am no help I am afraid just wanted to say the bedspread will be awesome when finished. Such a creative mind your son has. I am sure some more artistic people will come along and help you out. Looking forward to seeing more of it as it developes.
