I measured my daughter, and cut the pieces accordingly. It was too small, so we changed the bodice to a corset back, and added an extra strip of material in the skirt back. We also added the shoulder straps, because my daughter didn't want a strapless.

It is a detachable train, but I made it shorter. The original pattern was for a wedding dress. My daughter wants to keep the train so she can use it in her wedding veil someday as "something blue".
