What about lavender bags. Small and quick and you can buy lavender at the cheapie shops here in Queensland.
I made some to send down south for a fundraiser.
I used tulle to put it in like a square, then a bag I embroidered with a simple design tied with a ribbon to match colour of design.. Similar to the lovely bags Katulla makes only not quite as glamerous. They put $5 on them and they sold out in a matter of minutes.
What area in Queensland are you? City or Country?
Forgot to say I also bought a pack of cellophane bags in the party section and put each one in made it look nicer.
You don't have to use lavender - you can use ordinary rice and drop a few drops of potpourri lavender oil in there - I used to sell lavender bags with rice in at craft faires.
In Brisbane , I have lavender in the garden but not flowering at the moment . Thanks for the cellophane bag tip, I use oven bags for the larger items like embellished tea towels or hand towels. I love Katulla's work too.
For the dancers - humbug or teepee bags to carry small items, zippered bags (all sizes) can be used for makeup, hair pins/combs, socks, etc.
I used a design of Ghillies on drawstring Shoe bags I made for a couple girls who did Irish dancing.
Mugrugs, coffee cup sleeves, or totes might be interesting for the mums.
For the little kids - you might make some of those fabric chalkboards and include some chalk in a pocket or rolled up inside the board. Or, if you think there could be pre-schoolers, finger puppets could be nice. Most of the Highland or Irish dancers I've seen have young siblings, and mums frequently look for was to keep those tiny hands busy!
Good luck, and please show us what you make.
like the chalk boards & finger puppets too . totes & coffee sleeves underway too
Sachet bags , small drawstring bags to carry shoes or lingerie. Keep out door hangers. These are a few things I have seen lately..
Are you by any chance in Central Michigan?
The mug rug by San Francisco Stitch Company for March would be perfect. Maybe some shamrock pins. Table covers in Tartan Plaid with the big kilt type safety pins on them (I don't know what those pins are called)
theres always the ever popular pot holders or the mug mats done with the CD'S put some highland designs into them , Try making small secret cushions These have little hidden pockets in them for a teen to hide away their little treasures.. tooth fairy pouches and even placemats . I am sure others will come up with a few more ideas for you and good luck with the selling of them all.
