I spent yesterday playing with my tiny Vintage Elna lotus sewing machine. I was so happy with it other than the speed of the sewing as that was quite slow But Ok what did i expect from a small oldie. All i want it for is to sew the mini mosaic blocks together while away with my small motor home.

It was not untill i was putting it away for the night that i notice a - and + sign on the foot peddle. Now why do they need a + and - sign for on that.... I had a sudden thought Like what if it is for the speed of the foot controle. I decided there and then to test it out and plugged the machine back in and put my foot on the peddle with it on the + SIGN,
WOW that little snail suddenly turned into a mighty midget with a nice fast speed and now i am even happier with my purchase. I found the instruction manual online but there was nothing in it about the foot control speed selector.
I can now do the happy dance all over again.
It will go on its first journey next week, and i am sure it will be a good talking point when folk hear it humming away and stop to see what i am doing.
I am also going to fit it up to the inverter on a spare leasure battery and see how long i can sew with it in that mode

Good luck with all your travels Annie and I hope it is a real talking point at places along the way. Great to know that you can increase the speed and I look forward to seeing your quilt when it 's all finished. Love Chris
