Good Luck with this one, I have sewn on ribbon a time or two. I tack my ribbon down to the tearaway backing fabric and I have a gap between the two rows with the dates smaller than the upper words. Have fun and let us see the results
Thanks Caroline, I have added a tack down but will have to remove it after it is done or may just tack it with painter's tape. Actually I did that very thing with the numbers.... the font is .50 & the numbers are .45 & I have redesigned it to be numbers .35 & font .45 but not able to do a test run as of yet. She really likes this font though so I hope that I am able to make it work. ~hugs~
This is very readable, Loralye......I have never worked with ribbon before......
update, she stopped by last night in the midst of my terribly messy kitchen renovation (UHG!) & decided to change this to read his name first. She brought me 1.5inch wide ribbon but it is too big so she will get me another measure of it. But I have to concentrate on the kitchen this week so I have put it on hold till hopefully next week. She would however like to have a bit more space between the rows & the numbers to be smaller so we are making progress. lol slow but none the less progress. Thank you all for you assistance here I do appreciate your help. As always your fellow cutie Loralye ~hugs~
I can read this so I like it. As far as the formal way, color choice etc. that is for you and your client to work out. But I will be watching to see what you end up doing, which I am sure will be very nice.
will be watching with interest to see the final draft. I too am interested in small fonts, but never quite know which ones to buy.
Hi Lor..I have used the Lauren Script TTF for some small items...although I have not embroidered on ribbon. I have used this font sized to 7mm and had no problems...That is approximately 1/4" in height. I would suggest that you measure the width of the satin stitches...the very smallest I would go would be a stitch width of 1mm....
Many fonts vary the satin width...pick the smallest satin stitching in the font...measure from one side of the needle point to the other (width of the stitch) and make sure it is at least 1mm wide...then test it out.
In my day we always put the mans name first??here you got it reversed ,well in my head lol anyways looking good .You got a cowboy hat to try it on????hugs
Yes I did mention the name thing to her but I never argue with a client. Thanks & ~hugs~
Don't have your answer BUT did you know that Embroidery Garden has a free template file for embroidering on ribbon? It doesn't tack down - just provides placement lines for you to temp spray your ribbon onto, different ribbon sizes and numbers of ribbons within the hoop. Handy. http://www.embroiderygarden.com/s...
How much length do you have to work with? You could put the names then the date (not stacked) that would allow you to use a slightly larger font without increasing the size of the ribbon. I'm sure you will figure out something and it will be beautiful.
Thanks so much, she did want them in 2 rows so the client is always right. lol ~hugs~
sorry baby girl I can not help you but I know
you will get good answers.
hug lena
I don't know how to contact you privately. I wrote your data in my embroidery software: 1653 stitches, less than 5 cm (2 in.) long and 1.49 cm in height. If you interested, send me email at my user name. My provider is AOL.
Have you sewn this small of a size out with good results? I can make mine smaller but not sure it will stitch out correctly? The density is what concerns me. I will check back in a bit as I have people come by
Yes, I use it often in my labels. The density is not a problem, even on satin fabric. That's why I wrote you a number of stitches. It is a small font originally. I haven't reduced it at all.
