well the manager has called back & he is going to (his words) try to guilt them into doing the delivery but he is not holding out any hope. He did offer us a consolation prize? $100 apology for our inconvenience. I said I would rather have the fridge. Where I come from if you give your word that's all there is to it........you gave your word & it meant something..........
Caroline is right the stress is very bad for me so it is time to step away from the kitchen & do something to take my mind off the carelessness of others. We are off to the local market to get our vegetable plants it is a beautiful day & just the distraction we need! Thank you all so much for your support I do appreciate it very much. Even just taking the time to read the posts relaxes me so it is a good thing
It's like fighting tooth & nail! We went yesterday to verify the delivery of the fridge TODAY! Yes they confirmed it. it was picked up by the delivery service & to be delivered today. Now we call the delivery service just to make sure & they have no idea what we are talking about. We call the store & they say they will check it out & then call us back. They call us back & they can not find it? I tell them what the lady said yesterday & I use everyone's name & tell them that we were told that the fridge was sitting in receiving yesterday when the lady saw them come & pick it up! We had been checking on the status & she went back to see if it had been picked up yet. So now they know that we know that they picked it up...................he will call us back...............he calls us back they say NO all the trucks are already loaded & the fridge is not on it? I say why would they pick it up & then take it off the truck when it was for todays delivery? He says he will talk to his manager & see what can be done & call us back! So we wait......& we wait...........
All will be sorted its just causing mega hassles at the moment. Can you go and sew as a break from it all?
I am going to go to the market & use the time to plant my vegetable garden. A very good idea to step away from the hassles of the day & you are absolutely right, Hugs
You can do it!
I went through something like this after my first hubby passed away as our house wasn't finished and I had no cupboards, stove or sink. But, I did have 5 tables and boxes underneath to hold things; microwave, hot plate, electric frying pan - it wasn't too bad.
wow you had a much bigger challenge to live through. You are a very strong woman & a dear friend too. ~hugs~
I went with out a kitchen for 2 weeks from Christmas eve past new years. No fun at all! Hang in there, soon it will be complete and you will revel in kitchen happiness!
2 weeks would be a breeze lol, but a challenge during the holidays for sure! ~hugs~
I couldn't imagine doing this with small children..............what a challenge that would be no kitchen? UGH
Been there, Done that. Renovated a house a few years back. I could write a book about it. I told the man we got the blinds and fly screens from, when one blind would not stay up... I have had 2 stoves....2 toilets...and will not stop at having 2 blinds if you cannot fix this one. I am sure he was quivering in his shoes. He eventually fixed it after the 3rd time. His wife said she never pulled her blinds up and didn't think it should be a problem. We were in the country and wanted to take advantage of the lovely views we had.. You will get there. be assured. And you will be happy with the finished job. Hugs Shirley
I sure hope so Shirley. I have been reading horror renovations stories on line! They are just that horrors! Your right to stick to your guns for sure. ~hugs~
I'm sorry about your delays, We did our kitchen last year and it took 8 months little by little. we stripped the cabinets and did the floor and new counter tops. I was with out the kitchen sink for over a month. very stressful time . But we love our kitchen now. It was worth it, so hang in there you'll be glad you did.
I sure hope it is all good once it is in & done & over with. I don't think I could handle 8 months. We are doing everything new but the floors (they are 4 years old & we like them very much) the walls are the same but painted & the rest is as shown above in previous photos.
So sorry Loralye, it will be worth the wait, but I know how aggravating it can be to wait on others to get it done. I guess you can camp out in your back yard, I have known people to do that, but alas sleeping on the ground wouldn't be as comfortable as your own bed. Just try to be patient and make do, it will be together and done before you know it, just inconvenient for a few more days. Hugs, sharon
Thank you Sharon. After a good nights sleep I feel much better & I think that helped too. ~hugs~
Hey Loralye - Party time - big time! Lots of barbies, go out for dinner, or takeaway!
Seriously though I know what you are going through, we renovated our home in Valentine for over 6 months! No kitchen for weeks and weeks, so we used the Microwave and the barbie! Washed dishes in a bowl with water boiled from a kettle! he he he! Oh! the good old days but it was fun.
I hope everything eventually arrives and all will be beautiful once it's finished. Love Chris
P.S. Glad to see you still have your sense of humour!
You have to look @ the funny side or else it makes you much sadder. Camping is better as there is no stress so we may go for a night or two anyway.
ok life has thrown a screw ball so now what to do
Lets pretend we are camping and have some fun. So you can't cook on the stove. Improvise and use the microwave or the barby. No sink Ok use a large washup bowl instead and make a few memories of the time you had to rough it. Your grandma had no fridge and she survived the experience ok. Some times its good to get back to basics as it makes us step back and learn to relax a bit.
Why do we have to vacume every day. why do we have a mountain of washing and ironing every day. I don't and i am ok and the best part is
I AM ALIVE. In my tiny motor home i have no fridge or oven no washing machine or freezer and i am more relaxed there than when i am at home.
I am sorry that you have had too work so hard to get things ready for others and now you have been let down
throw a blanket on the ground and just calm down turn on the radio and rest your mind and let the world go by for a few more days. this chance to step of the world may never come again.
Just think how great things will be when its totaly completed. the waiting will be worth it I am sure.
You do extremely well to live without these things & I can tell that you enjoy it very much. It is something that you want to do so it is fun & relaxing for you. The time for us will go quickly & what will be will be. ~thanks & hugs~
After reading this comment...I am SHOCKED!!!! Now you are telling me that you are a OWL or a BIRDIE....People don't have tail feathers in my world! :P
So sorry to hear of all the hassles. You need to change your thinking; you get out of cooking, washing dishes, prepping meals and clean-up for a bit longer! There don't you feel better now?????
Seriously, the building trade and the rest of the world aren't as competent as embroiderers are...WE would have had this all embroidered up the day you started this project!!!! LOL Leaha
That would be great if for the last 2.5 years I did any of that but I did not & have only just been able to help do all of them (except the oven) in the last four months so it feels like a step backwards for me. Thanks for trying to cheer me up Leaha, ~hugs~
I could write a story about living with Mr Construction. I do not envy you. I know how you are feeling like becoming a monster ready to pounce as you wait. You got some good advice from going on holiday even if a short one, to a back yard campout. I would whisper how the bugs will eat you tonight in my hubbys ear if you don't get this done. Sounds like that is not your problem. So the going out for night and sleep out wherever is great advice. I know my next kitchen round I will have take out,my man hates take out. lol that outta get the bear growling instead of my monster showing. Once done you will be glowing and the monster gone.
I do appreciate this Mary & your all right of course when it is all done it will be so much better & patience is what I need alittle more of LOL ~hugs~
looks like you had better get the tent out in the backyard for a few days!
If this means try to get away from it all then your right maybe a break from all of this is just what we need. thanks & ~hugs~
It is very stressful to remodel. Just know that things will eventually come together and it will be beautiful in the end!
I am glad things are working out. I hope they will continue too. I understand all too well what you are going through. Floors that were supposed to be done before we arrived home are still not done and the saga continues.
Oh Karen I am sorry to hear that you are in a similar boat as we are. It definitely is stressful & something I am supposed to avoid so I am of the mindset UGH...................& nothing much more then that I can do so I have to continue this way until it is done & hopefully beautiful & no more complications for either of us
we have just come home from getting the rest of our appliances after comparison shopping for weeks now............every one tells you they are going on sale so come back then & we have come back to most of the stores repeated well today we hit the jackpot we found both a stove and a new dishwasher that we really like but the delivery @ one store was free & the other was $75 so we went back to the first store & she went on her computer & priced match ALL THE STORES FOR US & then gave us an additional 10% off those prices so that in the end we saved over $1000. I am so impressed & blessed!
this day just keeps getting better we just got a call from the fellow who has purchased our appliances & asked if he could change the pick up day to Sat & the answering machine told us that they called to confirm the delivery date of our fridge to come Sat & not Wednesday! SO now I will not actually be without a fridge at all! Whew hew!
It will soon be over and then you will have a beautiful kitchen. Hugs Sarah
Find another place to go. That is too miserable. I redid my kitchen about 5 years ago and ran into much the same as you, except luckily I had another refrigerator that we used for drinks, so it wasn't quite as bad as you will have it. We just left and I was happy to go.
We went out by the water yesterday for lunch & it had such a calming effect on the both of us & it softened the blow considerable. ~thanks & hugs~
Sometimes you just can't win...but on the bright side...you will have a brand new kitchen!
It will all past, before you know it,altho it is fustrating at the time.Just think,... you will be so thrilled when it is over, you will forget all about the upsets.(or at least by then it won't matter-lol) Let us see before and after photos, please.
your right it won't matter in the long run & I will post the empty kitchen for you. ~hugs~
it also means that the counters will be another two weeks after the cupboards get put in............
It sounds like a nightmare. If I were you I'd go on holiday!
we were going to go camping just for the weekend but we cancelled the site when we found out the fridge was coming Sat so now the site is not available sigh..........
