With respect, Loralye, for my taste it's too 'busy' I would just have the biggest and plainest tiles on the market. The glass splash backs are nice, but far too expensive for me.
Yes they are very busy & too small so we will return them but they were a very good price as we bought them from Costco. ~hugs~
he said & I have to agree it makes us dizzy if we look at it for very long lol
our kitchen is not as big as this photo so we will sit much closer to see the view then this shows
this is the photo of what our kitchen is close to looking like..............the style of cupboards is the same not the layout, also mine are not red either lol but this is the closest thing I could find. if you click to see a bigger pic on the pic you will see more what I mean
Having seen this 'look alike' picture I also think it is too busy when used on a large area - I thought it was only for behind the stove. I have plain tiles with my tops which are similar to yours.
You could always use a plain color field tile and use the brown glass tiles as an accent. Put a row of the glass down the middle of the plain tiles. I think it would be pretty either way. Don't over think it and you will be fine.
Gosh, seeing this like this makes the splash back area too fussy. I'm glad you have returned the tiles. Maybe just as Meg has suggested a listello would be better. Love Chris
well after all is said & done I showed hubby a kitchen photo that I found on line that is quite similar to what style that we will end up with & the backsplash was the same as ours & he said NO WAY! Please bare in mind this is not my kitchen but it is based on the same style sort of but the backsplash is very close
Love it! The colors look great together! We did something similar with ours---the granite is black, and we had the staggered-sized backsplash like yours with dark gray, clay, and light gray and are very pleased with it. Let us know what you decide.
I think the colors are good together. I agree with meganne though - something simplier might be better on keeping down the "busy". We did a matching backsplash (same as counter top) on ours but it only goes up about 4 inches.
Hi Loralye, it sounds like you are over thinking your decisions causing more confusion than is good for you.
These are the steps I take whether renovating or decorating a new build.
Firstly I decide the colour theme I want then I go to the suppliers and browse the materials, (be it tiles, bench tops, cupboard fittings, etc.)
I usually stand back and whichever item catches my attention, I will make a note of its product number.
By the time I have browsed through the whole shop there is usually one item I can't stop thinking about so I go back to it and take a second look, if I still like it I will ask for a sample to take home so I can see it in situ
This always works for me because if it stays in my mind, then it is something I really like and will keep on liking every time I look at it.
What you have chosen colour matches perfectly but perhaps that isn't what is bothering you, so, since you have asked for assistance I would like to add the following.......
if it was me, since the counter top is so busy, I would pick one colour out of the counter top and have a perfectly plain splashback because you can always add colour with your kitchen accessories,
OR,
you could add a contrasting listello tile around the whole splashback, at a line of sight making them visible when you look at the wall from a distance.
Another consideration: Small tiles mean a lot more grout to discolour and get dirty = more cleaning.
I have added some photo's of the little kitchenette/laundry we did downstairs. I kept it perfectly simple and plain yet I love it more than my main (timber) kitchen upstairs, probably because the upstairs kitchen is not my choice of materials and I find it oppressive.
pic 1 is my kitchenette benchtop
pic 2 is a small section of splashback and cupboard
pic 3 is a closeup of the listello tile that goes right around the wall.
The listello tile has a slightly metallic look to the pattern on each end and I picked that up by using metallic looking door knobs.
There are so many fabulous materials available now that the choices are endless and that makes it all the more difficult, so just remember,
what ever you choose, you have to live with it and if it is something you really, really, like that will make your choice the right one regardless of what anyone else thinks.
I hope this helps ease your worry a little bit.
hugs and much love, Meg
Beautiful! Your absolutely right! I love it, plain with fancy tile in the middle! Thank you my friend I have been agonizing over this! I like the clean crisp lines here, organized with a twist! Just like me lol. ~hugs~ Just what I needed to hear as well
I am soooooo glad I was able to help girlfriend. (BIG HAPPY GRIN :-))) hugs n love, Meg
I have to agree - so often it is the first choice that is the one to go for.
They are beautiful together. Don't agonize over your choice. I did the same and almost changed the backsplash at the last minute. Didn't and I love the finished product. Hugs. Nan W
The tiles your holding match the colours in the bench top beautifully, so stick with this decision it's the right one...
I think you have made a good choice. I love the colours. You can do so much to accent these.
Hugs

Hi Loralye - I also have a top very similar to yours. I think your tiles will go beautifully with the tops you have chosen. I love my new tops and should be grateful that nothing shows up on them but I am a clean and tidy freak. LOL.
Hi Loralye,
When I enlarged both pictures I could see the dark fleck on the counter top matches well with the darker tiles. The taupe colour will blend in with the lighter shades as well. Should be lovely when all done. Love and blessings Chris
really oh thank you Chris I am starting to come back to why I picked these in the first place. Thank you ~hugs **~
I think it goes very well. It has the colors that are in the counter top. Once it's completed, I think you'll be very happy with it. Go for it. & for all.
I think it goes extremely well with each other. The colors in the tile pull out matching colors from the counter top. It will be very nice when its all done. **FLOWERS**
well between his peter pointer finger and the middle finger .
I think it's awesome.
thank you so much. I really need to hear what other people besides me think of it
here is the colour of the walls, if that helps? like a creamy colour
