Thanks for sharing this tip. I have never done an appliqué, but I have seen them done beautifully. There is a shop in Warms Springs, Georgia... I don't recall the name, that sold some beautiful sets of matching Blouse and t-shirts, and they appliquéd the designs to them, and they looked lovely. *4U

I have appliqued, both with embroidery and just needle turned. Thanks for this tip.

I used to use vlisoefix all the time but have found that you waste alot with the edging constently peeling especially with the humidity in Queensland. But all my worries were solved when I fould a product call FLORIANI - APPLI-KAY WONDER, it is fusable on one side and then a sticker like on the other and it can be lifted as many times without losing your stick, then you iron to set the glue. Best of all you always get perfect placement and have no waste on the roll edges. Its a bit dearer but well worth it. If you do alot of applique like me try it, I was surprised how good it is.

It's called Vliesofix here and they sell Heat & Bond too. I use it for appliqué the way Jeri described and I use it to apply ready made patches. Used it a lot when my children used to fall holes in their new jeans (amazing how the always ruined the newest pair, just before you intend to visit the grandparents). That was before machine embroidery so always I had a small collection of appliquéd patches at the ready.

Thanks jrob, I do this all the time with my applique designs. I have mentioned it a few times on this forum. We call our product 'double sided applique' paper or 'magic applique'. *4U

I got something in spotlight in NZ. The leaflet mostly not in english, the name on it is vlieseline/vilene vliesofix, and Wonder Under. Guessing wonder under is the translation :) It was in a box and they cut it by the metre. Has paper backing, and the stuff is like a webbing. Ask again, they should have it in Aust too.

'let your fingers do the walking' check out the online store based at Bacchus Marsh, Victoria called "Stirling Embroidery & Design" They sell vliesofix and a lot more at very reasonable prices.[ http://www.stirlingembroidery.com...] then go to quilting

It is called Vlisofix here and spotlight do sell it, as do a lot of patchwork places. I prefer to use heat and bond( the light one) because the back, sticky stuff, comes of the Vlisofix and then you can't use it. By the way, it only becomes sticky when you apply a hot iron to it, so make sure you use it the right way up and always use either an applique mat or Glad Bake under your iron so as you don't get any of that sticky on it. A real bugger to clean of!

Here we call it Vlisofix or Heat and Bond. We use it for normal applique all the time, except for needle turn.Flower for you.

Iron on a product like WonderUnder (double sided fusible product) onto the piece of fabric that you will be appliquing. Go ahead and follow all of the standard applique steps and when you are finished and only then, iron it down and it really neatens the applique project.;)
