When I let my dog out earlier, she raced from the door to the fence, chasing a new fledgling robin. When I called her, she immediately came back (isn't it nice when they listen?). What was the best part was when the indignant daddy robin chased her almost to the door. It took over a half hour for the conversation between daddy and baby ended. Hopefully, baby made it somewhere safe.

It's that time of year on this side of the world when all of the babies are fledging and trying to make it in this big world. I remember those conversations with parents and sometimes just wished they'd go ahead and give me a spanking and get it over with!

It amazes me to see the birds fearlessly chasing a much larger animal and winning the battle. I am sure she was happy to hear that door close behind her and know she wasn't going to be pecked any more.

I understand, I have been watching Red Tail Hawks on web cam and one got blown off the nest yesterday morning and is not in a good spot tonight overnight.

oh yes Nature sure has a way of protecting their own, isn't it lovely. I am glad it was your dog, one of our two would simply NOT come back...
