This shows one of the sides. The sides were made by sewing the strips together using a 1" seam. The seam will be on the right side of the fabric. You fold each side in twice to meet in the middle and then stitch down with a decorative stitch to catch both sides. This is the "Highway" procedure. You use the "One-Way" procedures when seams intersect as they do when you put the binding around the top. You cute the "top" fabric to 1/4" and then fold the bottom fabric in twice and stitch down with a decorative stitch. After sewing the sides on, you have point at the bottom, so this is turned up and a button is sewn on to hold it up. Adds to the decoration too. The reversible side will not have a button at the bottom.

Erma, this is lovely - I like that they used the "Highway" procedure - using the 'One-Way Street' technique - this is a great quilting technique and now you know how to do it and you can make a quilt with this same technique and it will be stitched on both sides. Wonderful. *4U
