Love it, I love Jelly Rolls and have made quilts and bags and odds and ends stuff....Love the lace, I never thought about using lace but I may try it...Great to have a sewing room isn't it...For years I sewed in the kitchen or other odd places...love my sewing room too. Make more quilts!
Thanks Evie, its a very theraputic hobby for sure no matter where you plonk your machine!
Hi Julie, I am from South Aust. and wanted to say hello. I too have a jelly-roll waiting to be sewn into a quilt top but I can't decide how? Do I do it in rows, end for end, rails..... this list is endless. But I do need a new doona cover so I'll have to make up my mind. I love yours.
Hi vickiannette, youre right there are just way too many options but rows is easy, quick, and if you embellish it right, looks amazing! Make sure you post up your finished handiwork! Good luck!
What a beautiful quilt! I love the lace, it is just the perfect finishing touch. Your room inspires creativity. Your mum is so proud of you and now I can see first hand why that is. ;)
π thanks jrob, i loved making this quilt for me, the best part is i didnt fret over the little mistakes this time because it was for me not someone else! I love spending time in my craft room as we all do, and i know mum is proud, she taught all her girls alot about this wonderful hobby!
Well done & the lace is a lovely touch too! Welcome to our Cute family, we are happy to have you here with us! ~hugs Loralye~
Hey Julie, Way to go girl! Nice job on the quilt, your Mum must be awfully proud of you.
Love your bright and airy craft room too, looking at it, it is obvious you are your mother's daughter. :-)
A big warm welcome to Cute, are you getting an embroidery machine so you can become as obsessed as the rest of us? LOL!!!
Hugs and love, Meg
Hey Meg, well..thats what mumma thinks and she even spoke to me last night just to remind me now of my 'new obligation'! Thanx for the welcome, its pretty overwhelming hey? I π my craft room too!
I reminds me of the fabric wall, all those bolts of gorgeous fabric. Love it! Excellent craft room, lots of space! I am constantly tripping over something.
Your quilt is just wonderful! Your sewing room is so organized...mine looks like a tornado just went roaring through it, but, I do know where everything is, so go figure that one out!!! Ha- I had never thought of adding lace so you have inspired me and have me thinking ribbons, etc. I would love to be able to make AND finish one of these...can only get to sewing the strips together, then it gets gently set aside, waiting for a brainstorm to come. Thanks so much for showing this, hugs and blessings, Penny in TN.
I kind of tidied up before i took the photo pennydubose! Glad we get inspiration from each other! Hugs
I love the soft colors and the bit of lace in it. You will be so glad you made one just for you. Enjoy and dream of cold winter weather. Oh, wait, is it already cold where you live? Enjoy. Lovely quilt.
I am glad I made ithankyou graceandham, its certainly cold where we are, the fire has been roaring all day. X
Lovely!! Great that you & your mom can share a love of sewing!!
Pauline's daughter are you. Well I can truthfully say her talent has certainly been passed on to you. A beautiful job you have done here/Lillian
What a lovely comment thankyou Lillian. My mum is talented for sure! Xx
WELCOME JULIE TO THIS FABULOUS WEBSITE!
I won't forget your name as my sister is a Julie also, except we call her Jewls! I'm so thrilled to see you on here, we (Meg and I hear a lot about you) are a great bunch of women and your Mum is a wonderful, caring, sharing lady. I'm glad you finally got to make something for yourself too! Love Chris
Hello there Chris, lovely to meet you and thankyou for the wicked clipart, its very appropriate!!! π i hear alot about you too, all good of course and yes mother dearest is a talented, caring sharing person. Thanks for looking in and checking me out x
Very nice quilt. Love the lace and little bow. Nice sewing room.
Beautiful quilt! Lovely sewing room and a wonderful mother to teach you all the important things in life -- like Cute!
Hope this was a wonderful surprise for you mother. The quilt is so lovely. Your sewing...aka future embroidery area is gorgeous, The windows are to die for, the lanterns are a clever cute touch. Looks really great I would live in this place easily. Welcome again and enjoy :-}
Haha Leaha, future embroidery area! No excuses for me now I guess?... And yes i love it here wish i didnt have to work fulltime to enjoy it more!
Beautiful Jelly roll quilt. Another even easier way to do them is to sew and flip, sew and flip, with the backing and batting layered and when you get finished with the jelly rolls, the quilting is already done. The first strip is sewn on flat and then each one after that is sewn right sides together and flipped. Bind it and, voila, instant quilt. It works beautifully.
I want so bad to understand this...is there a video somewhere to see this done? This old Grammies brain has flown the coop! Hugs and blessings, Penny in TN.
Yes i think thats quilt-as-you-go. I thought about that halfway through, but too late by then!
Penny, i have instructions on this, i will have to figure out how to post them up? Might have to ask my expert mum noona57 π
You did your self proud.. The lace is a wonderful touch and the way you arranged the jelly rolls all very eye pleasing right down to the cute bow in the corner... Congratulations.
You have a lovely craft/sewing area.. Thanks for the idea on the triangle trim around the table..
Thanks worthy, i love looking at it each time i walk in the room! The bunting around the table is just leftover scraps!
Pretty Quilt. I love your craft room. I am fixing up my sewing room now and your room is a inspiration to me. Looks like a fun place to work in.

Teehee will do! Thankyou for commenting, i love my craft room too, it certainly helps to get the creative juices flowing!
Love your quilt! and really love your beautiful and organized sewing room!! Welcome to Cute! ***FLOWERS to all***
Thankyou shozo1271, it isn't always that organised! They say an organised craft room is the sign of a bored crafter! Not likely!!
I just love it!! Good you made something for yourself!! Hugs, Laura*
I really like your quilt of many colors. Very pretty! Great job!

well what a lovely surprise to see you showing us your lovely quilt...I love it 2 bitz. I can see you had a lovely/great/super teacher in your Mum, who I have had the privilege of meeting in Brisbane...
So have you been lurking here a while or just found us...Welcome to you, hugs Kerry
Hi Kerry, thanks, Mothers make the best teachers! I only joined today, i gave mum my 'old' iPad as hubby bought me a new one. I was giving mum a 101 in using the iPad and she had to show me Cute. She always talks about her 'cute' friends and thought i would check it out. Turns out there is a lot of great info, projects and ideas here! I probably shouldn't stalk mum too much though! π
Kerry Hi. Again a flying visit to Brissy. Looked after Roses 5 for the weekend. Heading home tonight :)
Welcome Julie and I love your work. I have left you a comment under the pictures your mum posted of your bag session. Its great that you are passing your skills onto your daughters/nieces
Thankyou asterixsew, we all love being crafty one way or the other, and trying to get together more often to share ideas x
Well wonders never cease. Show off !!!!! Ok so hey Julie you do know that this is an embroidery site Sooooooo now you have to go buy the programe for your machine, Your ever Loving Mother x x Ps lv the quilt x x x
Yes mum i did think i should get a program. I pulled out all the attachments this afternoon and started fiddling and reading the instructions. And PS, i'm only showing off what you taught me to do! π
Welcome to Cute! Lovely quilt , lucky you and fabulous for Pauline to have the family following in her footsteps!
Welcome to Cute. I gather from your name you must be Pauline's daughter. What an amazing quilt. Would love to make one but just too scared. Love your sewing room. Sarah
Its a giveaway isn't it? I don't think she knows i'm on here yet! π Jelly rolls are deadset THE easiest quilt to make, you cant go wrong. Sew the pieces altogether, straight-lines only, stick in some wadding, back it, stitch in the ditch, bind it and there you have it! Very easy project.
Oh me! I can get to the stitch in the ditch part, but that is where I lose it...can't figure out how to square it up when it is big, then there is the binding...I need step by step directions somewhere!!! Hugs and blessings, Penny in Sevierville, TN.
I'll get some instructions i have them just need to figure out to attach them here. Pinning is SUPER important to keep it square. You will always have to trim it at the very end when finished stitching in the ditch.
