The originals of these cherubs are WAY out of copyright :-) - they're the putti from the bottom edge of Raphael's Sistine Madonna - so I reckon I'm OK copying them and digitising them! This is just a test stitchout on felt, I'm going to modify the outlining on the hair so there's a bit less stitching on them then I'm going to embroider a couple of hand towels as a thank you gift for my sister-in-law whose Victorian bathroom has an angel/cherub theme. Love

Copyright ... I ought to clarify : I was referring to copyright on the original painting, which is a detail of the Madonna in the Sistine Chapel in Rome, painted by Raphael around 1512 - 1514 - so WAY out of copyright. I am very particular about not infringing artists' copyright (or anyone else's for that matter) because it DOES matter, even if you don't sell your embroideries. That's why I usually draw my own designs right from scratch, then I hold the copyright! I've put a permission-to-use statement on my website which lets amateurs use them for free but if anyone wants commercial use they can pay the going rate! Love

They look nice. I don't think the copyrite matters that much if you don't sell them. They deserve a flower

I was referring to the original painting that I drew it from - it's part of Raphael's Sistine Madonna, painted 1512-1514 so it's WAAAY out of copyright! I did the digitising myself from my copied drawing.
