I have this sewing basket that sits on the floor beside my lounge chair, you know, for quick repair jobs if I ever get to just sit and watch the telly.

Well I asked hubby (Ray) if he would put some legs on it, to get it up off the floor and make it easier for me to reach it.

Well yesterday, when he was lounging around annoying me, I plonked the sewing basket on his lap, prompting all sorts of remarks I can't repeat here, but he finally succumbed to my whining, cajoling and bullying and below is the result of his labour.

I think he surpassed himself, he actually THOUGHT about it and decided if he made it a table, instead of just legs, I could still put the sewing basket on my lap if I needed to, isn't he clever?

He has been in my good books ever since. :-)))

You know, if I could do woodwork I think I would never run out of things I could make and you wouldn't see me for the sawdust. hugs n roses, Meganne

Really cool idea, and it looks great! See, they really CAN do marvellous things when they put their minds to it, it's just getting them there, up away from the football or whatever. Good on Ray, now you can put the basket on your lap, and the scissors or whatever else on the table part! Congrats to you both, it's lovely and useful, too! Hugs, Marji

That is so clever Ray!! I saw the sewing basket last Friday when I went down with my Mum to visit Meg and Ray and what he has done with it is nothing short of brilliant. I wasn't expecting anything like that Meg, it's so "usable" now and can be kept close-by. Well done, love Chris

Perfect! They can be sooo useful -once you get them started up! When I did have a husband, my method was to start something I needed done so he'd take over, assuming he'd do a better job of it :)

Looks fantastic. Ray sounds a little like my DH, who is also very good at woodwork. Just needs a nudge every now and then!!!

Yes, Sarah a nudge helps, especially since he retired, he's slipping into some bad habits that will not do his health any good. :-(

Yes he sure does Leaha.
I need to keep him busy now he has retired or he will shrivel up and ......

Leaha by Leaha 24 Jun 2014

He wouldn't dare do that! Haven't you heard the definition of retirement? "Twice as much husband; half as much money." :-}

But do you find he is a mixed blessing like my DH?
They are so talented they can make anything you ask for,
but on the other hand,
if something needs doing around the house they HAVE to be the one to do it and it takes forever to get finished so you end up living in clutter for years instead of months.
Gotta luv 'em! :-)

graceandham by graceandham 23 Jun 2014

Just be glad (proud) you have someone with skills in your home. It ain't happenin' here! Unless I hire it done. He did a stupendous job. You need to cook him his favorite supper or reward him in some way so the love continues!

meganne by meganne 24 Jun 2014

Yeah Grace, previous husbands weren't so gifted and I used to have to do everything myself. :-)
But don't worry, Ray is my 'keeper' so he gets his favourite meals every night.
His first wife couldn't cook without burning everything, so he did all the cooking AND all the housework after putting in a full day at work so I think he considers himself totally spoiled rotten now. He'd better, eh? :-)
