Just wanted to share some photos of a very productive weekend my hubby and I has on our little farm. We love living in the country, and are working towards becoming self sufficient as much as possible. We robbed the bee hives and got 50kg honey, harvested some coriander and 5 super large cabbages (they'll make great saurekraut) and visited other friends who graciously gave us a full box of coriander to make some yummy pickle. This is what life is all about, living in and sustaining ones self with nature.

I have to grow mine from seedlings bought at the hardware store as my seeds never seem to germinate. But boy do the self sown ones grow like crazy. I found a 1/4 inch parsley plant (& a one inch plant too) while helping hubie undo some nuts & bolts on his bike. Yes, I was that close to the ground.
I picked the full grown parsley to go in my weekend salad and planted the seedlings in a spare spot in a tub. Yummy.
If we have to move before Christmas, I am going to miss all the lettuce & parsley & flowers that come up in the sand between the pavers.

Oh that is so great! I believe that all of us should be allowed to follow suit even in the city without immobile barriers. An invasive species of tree has mites that ate all my seed grown plants. every one has been attacked. I am so disappointed. the few I got from the nursery may put on fruit, so I will have tomatoes, broccoli, red peppers chive. I still have 1 out of 10 sweet onions! LOL! It is the picking cucumbers that I will miss. I am going to container gardening I think.

Sorry to hear about the mites cfidl, if you cut a milk container top off and place it over your seedlings, this might help? Good luck!

Don't you just love to see things grow ? That's why I love to grew herbs and plants. Only most of them are gone due to the hail we had few weeks ago. But I have bought already some new tomato plants. It is so nice live around you

My congratulations You guys are doing a fantastic job. There's nothing like eating veggies straight out of the garden. It takes a lot of work to live off the land but it's worth it/Lillian

It is hard work for sure Lillian, especially as we both work full time and long hours during the week, but the garden combined with some crafting, is so therapeutic! x
