My son will marry in October. I am planning to make a bachelor party for him and his girlfriend, where all our friends and family attend, since the reception will be familiar.

He is my only son and I have no many ideas of what to do or how to decorate. I know I could search through the internet, but I wanted to first know your opinions.

I want it to be something casual, where everyone feel comfortable. I'd appreciate your comments.

Congratulations, it sounds like you could start a new tradition and make your own type of party.
It could be a picnic, barbeque, potluck etc. everyone could bring a dish and the recipe to make it and put it in a card file for them to enjoy. The recipe file can be as fancy or themed as you'd like. Have the engaged couples name, the date and the occasion placed on it as a memento of the day. Pictures of the person or whole family bringing the dish and recipe could be paired with the recipe in a file and that way she would have name, face and recipe of some one in her new family.

Where I'm from bachelor parties are made with the couple. You give away things for home use, or for personal use. But this idea is super. Thank you.

My nephew who has skills for creating a storybook-type slide show mad one for his cousin with pictures of the bride and groom interwoven from the time they were babies till they met and married. It had music and a little script and was very touching. The cutest part was they both had Christmas baby pics in red striped pajamas with feet and looked a bit alike.

A friend is doing a slideshow with pictures of them as you explain me. Thanks, it's an idea with deep feelings.

Here is the southern U.S. when a party is given for the groom-to-be we typically give "Tool showers". This is a party especially for Him. He registers the tools that he would like at some local hardware store or Big Box store like Walmart, Sears, or KMart and makes a list of the tools he wants. My son got a grill, a lawn mower, a really nice ladder and a wheelbarrow among other things. The party was given by my friends' and held at the home of one who had a pool. They used a luau decor. It was really nice and lots of fun.
Usually, the bride-to-be has lots of showers and Her requests are honored for her showers and also mostly the wedding gifts.
I'm not sure where you are from and what your customs are, just sharing mine.

Its always interesting hearing about what is done around the world when couples get married. I have not heard of the Tool shower before.

Never heard of this either but a really good idea for the handyman, mechanic or just any do it yourself type of individual. :)

That's a good idea. Never had heard, it's usual here where I live to make gifts for home use. The decoration of luau and that the party will be in a pool is great. Thanks for sharing your suggestions with me.
