Hi Jerri,
Such a wonderful idea and something that she will treasure because you made it for her. Well done, love Chris
Wow, this is a great project!
Did you print the pictures onto fabric or had a professional do the printing for you?
The shadow box is a fantastic idea!
Thank you. I bought a product called Printed Treasures, its a fabric sheet that you put into your Inkjet printer. I printed them myself. It is in at the quilt job getting the final touches, hopefully I will get it back this week.
Jerri, what a terrific project and kudos to the helpful Cutie!!
You are doing an amazing job! Like all the other Cuties,I will be looking forward to the finished quilt. Beautiful sentiment.-Toogie
Thank you Toogie. I now have 10 of the 15 blocks done, just need her to decide what she wants for the middle Grade 12 picture, then off to the quilters.
Jerri, this made me cry. I know she will love it and hold it dear to her heart.
Thank you Jerrilyn. Sorry I didn't mean to make you cry. I just thought others might like the idea for their kids or Grandkids. I thought of this when she started school 13 years ago.
this is beautiful wonderful treasure boy if i had had a grand mother to make me something like that i would have been so proud of it .
Hugs Lenamae
Thank you Lenamae. I have waited for 13 years to start.
The time just flew by. I can remember her first days in Kindergarten and now she will be starting University in Sept.
You are doing a fantastic job so far Jerri! She will cherish this for many years to come & then share it with her family when she has one. ~hugs~
Thank you Loralye. Its a challenge for sure as I haven't done anything like this before. I have made a lot of baby quilts, but this one, you have to be exact or it doesn't all fit the way it should. I am learning a lot. Hugs
What a treasure this will be for her! Be sure to sign the quilt on a label, even if you digitize your signature.
Thank you, I have a label made up, but not stitched out. I will sign my name and the date as well. Hugs.
This going to be beautiful and I am sure your GD is going to love it.
This is a wonderful beginning and looking forward to seeing this upon completion.
Thank you. I too am anxious to see the finished quilt, but it will be a while..
wow, Jerri, that is going to be one fantastic quilt! Love the idea of doing it with all her school pics. One suggestion, maybe you should do 2 while you are doing it, because I don't think you are going to be able to part with this one when its done. You will want to keep it :) Keep posting!! Love to see the finished project!! ***FLOWERS to all***
Thank you. I have saved all 3 of my Grandkids school pictures with this idea in mind as a Graduation gift for each of them. This is my first one. The other two are 16 and 13, so it will be a couple years before I do another. I have all their pictures also (in wallet size) in a frame.
This will be awesome. I love the shadow box. Quite an undertaking you have taken on and what an heirloom this will be a 100 yr. down the road./Lillian
Thank you. I had this idea in mind for a long time, but then found the shadowbox design and knew that was how I wanted to do it. Just sets the pictures off.
What a fantastic remembrance this will be for her...and you are off to a wonderful start! I love the shadowbox effect...are you using purchased photo fabric or making your own...very nice job!
Thank you. I really liked the shadowbox effect also. I purchased a product called Printed Treasures, to print all the pictures in. Very easy to do and they turned out just like the original pictures.
Good morning Jerri,
wow you are off to a great start, this are terrrific, she will cherish this forever. Keep up the good work
hugs
Michelle
Good morning Michelle: Welcome back. So happy to see your face back on Cute. Thank you for the encouragement.
Hugs
It is beautiful. I'd like to make one like it some day.
Thank you. I didn't want to do something to fussy for my first attempt and must say the mitred corners were a challenge, but I figured an easy way for me to do them and happy they turned out so well.
Oh My Goodness..... you have inspired me to get started with one I want to do for my daughter, she will be 40 this year and I was wanting to do something like you are doing, she was born in the year of the Tiger and was wanting to include that in the quilt, after seeing how yours is starting to unfold so fantastically I am on my way to my machine to start. Please keep posting you progress will be looking forward to seeing it finished., it looks great. :)
Reading this makes my day. I am so happy to hear that you want to start one for daughter. I will post more as it goes along. I can't finish it until she decided what picture she wants for the center and right now, she is on a trip of a lifetime. She is travelling through Europe with a program through her school.
This will most definitely become one of her most treasured possessions, So special! You are starting out great!
Thank you. She knows about the quilt and has picked out her own fabric. The backing fabric is beautiful and I will post a picture of it when its done.
Hi Jerri, how wonderful of you to write to the lady who made the original quilt and ask permission. That is so considerate of you. I love the shadow box effect and it will look fabulous once it's all finished. What a wonderful way for your grand-daughter to remember the early childhood years as well. Love Chris
Thank you Chris. The lady and I have become internet buddies and she has been of great help to me. I really loved the shadowbox, but the mitred corners where challenging as I have not done anything like this before. I figured out an easy way for me to do them and am please with the results. Hugs Jerri
This is a promising start to what will be a wonderful quilt! So nice to see her grow in the pictures. I wish you success with the remaining blocks and the final construction!!
Thank you for your kind words. Blue is her favourite colours, so I am hoping she will like the end result.
OK, now I HAVE to comment too!! I am the shadow box lady that Jerrib got the templates from. She is so excited to be doing this and it is certainly going to be one of her GD's most prized possessions!! We have indeed become internet buddies over this and it has been truly a fun experience. Thanks again Jerri!! We are all anxiously awaiting the final product!!
