No sewing today after all. I wanted a piece of fabric for the cushion and i know it was put into the shed at the bottom of the garden so i went hunting for it. Hunting being the operative word. I soon realised that there was no way i was going to find it without a clearing stuff away first. it was a job that had been put off till tomoorw for about six months so it was way past the time for it to be tackled.

With one eye on the tadpoles to make sure they were safe i delved into the interior of the 8x12 shed and began to sort the fabric. I was being very ruthless with myself and soon had three large bags ready . one for the bin, one for freecycle and one for total rubbish.
The fabric pieces i wanted to keep i put into large banana box's that could be stacked. despite the whistling lesson that darn pidgion was still shouting "i can't do it" so i gave up on him.
I found the fabric i was after.I found fabric i had forgotten i had and i found the shed floor that had been missing for over a year.
I have two bags of fabric bits that i will not use ready for freecycle and three more that is rubbish and two that will go to recycle.
There is more work to be done but i can now move around and see what is where. I have a pile of egg art items including instruction sheets that i have no idea what to do with dolls house stuff and even parchment craft books and tools. Who knows perhaps when its all cleaned out i will be able to sit down there and sew and not have to worry about the bits on the floor.
catch you all later
Oh forgot to say I also found where a small field mouse had over wintered in a sheepskin rug. very warm and snug too but he had gone, but no doubt he will be back come the autumn time so i will leave the rug for him in the corner.

Isn't it amazing how we can accumulate so much that we forget some of what we have. Sounds like you did a great job getting ready for the next haul you have coming in. Now if I could just get to the bottom of some of my bins, and yes it keeps coming in here also. A friend sent several boxes of fabric to the women's club last week. so we all divided it up. Lot of things on the agenda for us to make and on of the foremost was pillowcase dressed for an orphanage in Virginia. I came home with 3yrd pieces that I really did not need,LOL Just couldn't turn it down. Addicted I am/Lillian

Have you thought of finding someone who does craft with children ,who could use what you don't want?
I have a friend ,who over the years has done craft with a number of different groups of children & has always been glad of anything that they could use for this.Scraps of felt ,wool ,fabric ,cardboard ,fur, cardboard centres from paper towels etc .The worst that can happen to them ,is that they go to the bin.It is amazing what the kids make with what would be thrown out.She is retiring at the end of this year aged 80.

Offerd a lot of craft items to our local village school a few years back and was told " No thank you. We do not like other peoples rubbish. " the teacher had not even seen what i had. lots of items from different crafts with paints and glues and tools along with stencils and card, peel offs and a load of fur fabric. so now i offer to anyone who wants it

LOL my friend has just phoned up to arrange a meeting we meet half way 63 miles for me and 62.5 for her. I said i would love to meet up and that i would come in the motorhme so we can have a cuppand a chat in the back of it.
She then said that she had somethings for me. .Aparrently an elderly friend had decided to donat all her fabric stash to her . ceiling to floow wall to wall wardrobes full of fabric. NOW THAS WHAT YOU CALL AN HAUL. Thinking of me whilst sorting it all out she has put one side a few box fulls that she thought i could find usefor.
No i haven't told her that i have had a sort out of my own so now at least i will have room in the shed and i can pass on any items i will not use myself.
Found two nice fast to make patterns for cushions so guess that is what i will be doing with the bulk of he heavy stuff.
that darn pidegon is sitting in the tree overhead still proclaming he can't do but now his friend is shouting back "move your a#se" they really are not very polite to each other.

I need a good strong injection of your type of medicine; the type that can allow me to realize that there is no way I'm going to use THAT piece and send it on to someone else to love. I might actually have room to work then. :) I hope that you felt very relieved to have gone through your stash and purge the old. Enjoy the "new" old stuff that you had forgotten about.

I think that many of us suffer from the hording instinct with fabric.

Annie congratulations on your achievements. Now are you going to restock the depleted fabric stash or leave well alone? Whatever enjoy the space and the refound fabric. Maybe the pigeon will learn what you are trying to teach him today

Great job Annie - just hope you did not tire yourself too much. It is such a great feeling when one has sorted through 'stuff', especially when it gets thrown out as well. Hope your little mouse appreciates what this very kind lady has done by keeping his/ her bed already for next time.

Well done Annie and I'm so glad you found what you were looking for. It's always cathartic (cleansing in this instance) having a clean out isn't it? So glad your little creatures are all doing well. Good luck with the whistling lesson too with your Pigeon.

It's winter time here and Amy and I had a clean out of their garage on Thursday and it felt really good. She is like me and likes everything neat and tidy. Good luck with the rest of the cushion, it's looking good. Love Chris

Wow, Annie, finding floor space and sorting out your stuff at the same time must have lowered your energy levels to tadpole height. Well done, an example to a lot of us, me included. Sorry the pidgeons are reluctant to benefit from the lessons, their reportoire must be rather limited, but if they refuse to improve you might as well look for a different project. I hope you'll let us know :)

It's always a big job and the reward comes in pieces later as it is quicker to find just the right thing.

My, you have had quite the day with all of the teaching and organizing. Shame on the pidgeon for being a bad student. Kudos to you for finding the floor. Amazing how we all keep misplacing floor space, isn't it. Enjoy the tadpoles and all of you new/old fabric.

Enjoy your storytelling immensely, at least it seems like it since we live in a more urban setting. Doesn't it feel great to find things and get them all sorted out, ready for new adventures in fabric and crafting? Your little creatures seem to provide a lot of entertainment, which I find delightful...Have fun in your newfound space.
