Congratulations on your new house...your sampler is beautiful...great idea to celebrate your new home. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Sue it's absolutely stunning. I love that you've put the name of your home on there too Great work and it looks really authentically antique! Well done, love Chris
What a lovely way to welcome you into your new home! It's very pretty. :-}
How very lovely! Beautiful colors, designs and textures. It will be a sign in your new home: a textile artist lives here.
Welcome back, we've missed you.
Reminds me of the images in a quilting book I own, only yours are hand stitched! Impressed and awed that you take the time to do this. Wonderful display.
Beautiful Stitching from designs to colors and awesome you were able to use all from your current stash. Hope that now your machine has been unpacked you will be able to get back to your other projects. Great to have you back and settling into your new home.
sue this is beautiful i hope it hasupride of place in your new home...soozie
Just realised I have not commented on this super piece of work Sue. What a great addition to the new home. I just wonder if you ever do sit and do nothing?
Sue, when I view your beautiful sampler, I am immediately referred back to my late Mother's ' Encyclopaedia of Needlework Illustrated' published in London by Weldons. ( Unfortunately the date is not available but it would have been before 1940). Or, to designs seen from time to time in years gone by, in the British 'Stitchcraft' magazines. I have inherited the encyclopaedia referred to here and I would like to quote a sentence from that book with reference to Cross Stitch': (remember we are looking now at HAND cross stitch - like in your own sampler Sue):
'Cross-stitch does not require any very great experience of embroidery on the part of the worker, as the beauty of the work depends chiefly on regularity, and a good choice of colours.'
Yours is indeed 'a good choice of colours' Sue.
Patricia
I LOVE your sampler. What a great way to put your mark on the new house!!! I'll have to remember that, since I truly want to move and soon. Mine won't be nearly as pretty as yours since I don't digitize, but it will be an announcement that new people live here. Beautiful! I've always loved samplers; especially with the author's name, date, etc. how special!
Love it - looks so old fashioned. You have done a great job Sue.. Welcome to your new home
Lovely cross sticth and lovely to see you posting again. Hope the move went well and you enjoyed your holiday :)
This is a gorgeous sampler. Welcome to your new home.
I have done a few samplers with this look and I think yours is gorgeous! Now, even you will feel welcomed in each time you see this on the wall. I like your colors.
A beautiful job Sue and a nice touch for a new home/Lillian
fabulous, Sue. I am assuming that it's a machine embr. project? Or did you do this by hand?
A wonderful addition to your new home! Glad that you are settling in nicely too. ~hugs~
Gorgeous. I love the traditional motives you used. Such a delightful way to use some of your stash!
Beautiful! I love the old samplers. I'm glad you are moved and just about unpacked. You are ahead of us. We got delayed with my husband's surgery. Enjoy your new home.
It is lovely! I received a sampler to match the king size bedspread from my mother-in-law & her mother for my wedding present. So glad you did this for your new house and you did a very nice job!
Wow, Sue and what a stunning piece to return with.....I hate moving...hope it went well for you and I imagine you have to set up your sewing room or was that the first one done.......
