Nice! I tried one but haven't found backing to complete it. It was different to make and glad I tried it.
NICE!!! Love your quilt!!! I have often thought of making a jelly roll quilt, with different widths of strips, and making it into a rag quilt. Thought that would be different. Anybody made one like that? Its on my bucket list of things to do! LOLOL. ***FLOWERS to everybody***
Hi dee, please excuse my ignorance but what is a jelly-role? Is it a modern version of the former eiderdown (but less puffy)? Your combination of colours is eye-catching and reminds me of a Fair Isle cardigan Patricia
A jelly roll is a roll of strips in 40 or so coordinated colours. Apart from this stripy one you can find quite a few patterns for the use of the material, even books. Just google Jelly roll quilts or jelly roll pattern and you'll find lots of beautiful examples.
Thanks Martine - never too old to learn and I will do the required research.
more often then not (@ least here) is it a roll of 2.5" strips 40 in total but with 2 of each colour in the pack. They all co-ordinate with each other & one way to do this quilt is to throw all the strips in a paper bag & pull them out in a random order. The theory is they all go well with each other so you can't miss by picking blind. They are quite fun to create & very quick too as opposed to a traditional quilt. ~hugs & ** 4all~
I like that idea of the paper bag... I spend (toooo much!) time trying to coordinate all the colors...
Thank you to Patricia V for asking the questions & the answers from everyone. It is crucial to have 40 row. Thanks. .
