Well done Loralye.. they remind me of something similar that we wore here in Australia back in the late 60's they were called witches britches lol, they were also worn under a dress or skirt.. thanks for the memories. Marian
My husband is going to love this! Thanks Marian for both the compliment & the chuckle! ~hugs~
Hi Sewilso, are you thinking back of culottes that were fashionable in the latter half of the 1980's? I know 'Knitwit' had a good number of patterns available. The culottes were not an undergarment and a light-weight alternative to a petticoat, was made (much like Loralye has in mind here) to wear under the culotte. Patricia
Bingo Sarah, me too!. I used to say I was 'addicted' to Knitwit, but rather that than drugs!!
well ladies I have no idea what this is Knitwit classes but seems to me I have heard the saying here on cute before so I guess it was sewing classes?
Loralye, Knitwit was a 'franchise'? that originated in Australia, if I am correct. It had its own dressmaking patterns, gave detailed classes, sold their exclusive materials of a high standard, and afforded many ladies (I can vouch for South Africa) the opportunity to acquire additional sewing skills and also in pattern designing. They produced many standard/basic patterns which were invaluable. I for one really enjoyed and beneftitted from their classes and Club Days. I still have some beautiful dresses in my cupboard that I made whilst engaged with Knitwit. Perhaps some Australian Cuties can tell us if Knitwit is still in existence there. One thing I will always remember, and apply when it is relevant, is that Knitwit taught us that you ' never make a FLOP, you make a CREATION'. A very hand standby! Patricia
Nice work Loralye! We used to wear them years ago, I can't remember what we called them. It wasn't peddie pants though. Mine were kind of a mint green. I can't believe I forgot. lol!
They do look comfortable!
thank you Sharon they are very comfy & much better then the poly slip I have. ~hugs & don't forget Liberty Jane today!
I like much, these are a lot better than a slip/Lillian
Reminds me of what my grandmother used to wear. LOL. If it works - great idea Loralye.
are you trying to tell me I'm old Sarah! LOL just kidding but they are so much more comfy then a sticking to me polyester slip! They work super & I have them on now! So nice & soft too. ~hugs~
this is throw back thurs on facebook...and I had some of those back in high school called "peddie pants" at the time...so guess it's throw back thurs,. on cute!! However, I don't have any of mine to show! You did a great job & I know you'll enjoy them! Wish I had mine back!
This is a great idea!!! They are so cute, too and functional!! I know what you mean about picking on yourself.....very uncomfortable and the winter is the worst for the static cling!...
I am a fan of dresses in the summer time when it is so hot & these seem to be a great alternative to the poly slip you can't see through my dress & they are soft & comfy too I forget I'm wearing them. Thanks so much Vicki!~hugs~
What a great idea. A little embroidered heart, strategically placed, would be cute. LOL
Adorable!! Now you will also want one in white! :) They look comfy! ***Hugs and Flowers!***
I made a cotton slip just like the skirt except ( I put elastic at the waist and a bit shorter less if show below the skirt) so my skirts wont stick to me . worked great. Oh by the way they look good.
I am going to have to look into that as well I was worried about ironing it all the time? ~hugs~
An iron is a tailoring tool. You press open seams, press down darts and put it away till you sew again. Been trying to teach that to my sister for 30 years - she even irons blue jeans and t shirts and nighties!
