I use 8 and it works well with my bernina software. It doesn't like games and that is good for me because I have a tendency to start playing and forget to quit. Hope you enjoy it also it is very stable your computer won't crash as easy also if you lose your microsoft password you might have to go on another computer or your phone to reset it. Keep your password by your computer because every time you reboot your computer you will have to put it in. Hugs Virdean
I am using 8.1 since my old one using Vista was stolen in a burglary last October. It has its pros and cons. The biggest con is some things just don't work on it.
I have a Husqvarna Iris that needs an embroidery card. But the driver for the reader/writer box is not compatible with 8.1, you need XP or Vista. Husqvarna does not make a new driver, so big problem.
Had i known that beforehand I would have gone for 7Professional.
My New computer arrived this morning. It is still in the box. I am plucking up the courage to open it. I will be going from XP to Windows 8.1. They say you're never too old to learn. Soooooooooooooo here goes. hugs Marg
I'm over 70 and had no trouble with windows. In also have 8.1 and love all the things I can do easier than my previous versions. I bought Window 8 for Dummies from Amazon so can learn what I was weak on.

Forget Windows 8 and go straight to 8.1. I had lots of problems with 8 and when I did the upgrade. I love it.
I know many of the users here have Windows 8
If you are concerned about old software -- ask the maker of the software if their program works with Windows 8 in compatibility mode or you CAN still order Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Ultimate which includes a virtual XP -- not dual boot -- but a protected XP machine that resides inside the Windows 7 operating system. It is much like a multiple personality.
It is what I use.
I hadn't heard about the 7Ultimate capabilities. Got myself 7Professional so I could have xp there if I needed to, but it's doing fine with all I have so far. It's always great to have options.

Professional and Ultimate both will do a virtual XP. You have the best options available right now. With all the licenses from all the previous systems included. Windows 8 does not have that backward compatibility.
