we whom are computer dummies sure love our friends that help us out when we are at our wits ends .I am very happy for you hugs Carolyn
Every time time I purchase a design I back it up. It is just something I got in the habit of doing about 10 years ago when I first stared embroidery. It may take longer but I feel so much better knowing it's been done. Happy you didn't loose all of your designs...Hugs...Carol
I do back them up, just not on an External that wasn't plugged into the computer. So now I know to keep one unplugged when not downloading.
I would be upset for sure! I can not think of anything worse! I wonder what application did this,
I would like to know as well, very frustrating, but so grateful my dear friend was able to help me. I have almost 20 years of collecting designs. I thought I had them backed up, just didn't think about keeping one external not connected to the computer.
Sorry to hear you have lost so many designs. Sure pays to have them backed up away from your computer. Shirley
Thank you, but I am lucky, I didn't loose all of them. I had them backed up on another external, but it was plugged into my computer. Did not think that one out... Got to get a new plan...
Nearly losing data (especially years of collecting embroidery designs) can be so very scary!
Thank you for reminding Cuties to back-up their designs.
Having a back-up that is not on your computer is important for more than virus/malware issues. If you computer receives an electrical spike (like it could during a thunder storm or during a rolling brown or black out...) you could lose all your data if it is all within or attached to your computer.
You must BE a very good friend to have that kind of help.
Good luck with the project...
Thank you rescuer. I am the lucky one, I get more than I give with this friend. I would be lost without all the help.
Hugs
I always knew there was something wonderful about you Jerrilyn. You must have lofty thoughts! ;)
Oh my! I'm glad that your friend was able to help you out. And yes, you will eventually get back to your new normal. Patience will be a must.
I am happy she was able to help as well. Its just so frustrating when something like this happens. I have better and more fun things to do...I am sure Patience is my lesson for this life-time. I still don't have it...lol
