The silliest thing I have done was last night !! Seeing the dishwasher full, I decided to get it going! No dishwasher tablets ! So, seeing washing up liquid , I put a couple of squirts in! How was I to know that the kitchen floor would be covered in soap suds, and it took six rinses to get rid of all the foam inside !!!l. My son is not going to let me live this down !!!
JUST A LITTLE TIP!.....if you ever find too many bubbles again.....add a little fabric softener....it will calm down the bubbles. I did that once in a Laundromat with front loaders and very soft water. Too much detergent and the bubbles were coming out the top so I added fab soft and the bubbles went away. But then I had to rewash things and start over.
My four legged babies woke me up around 2 am, they want to go potty. It is hard for me to go back to sleep so I decided just to do embroidery. I choose the design a 45 thousand stitches., while doing the embroidery I feel as if something is not right but I keep going and finish the embroidery and when I remove the hoop it finally enlighten me I did not put the fabric it it just the medium cut away stabilizer.
arrived back home today after a five day holiday in my motor home with no electrics so used all gas for cooking. i decided to make me a cuppa so filled the kettle and put it onthe gas ring and was just about to light the gas under the kettle when i realised it was electric.
Spent one hour waiting that the baking oven would cook the fish
(out of deep freeze) and in this hour I was in kitchen preparing rice an salad to go along with the fish. Then I noticed it did not smell like ready food and found out that the temperature button was on 0 degrees Celsius instead of 150 degrees :-( So the family had to wait another
40 minutes until we could start eating.
But to my rescue I want to add that family members also cook and bake in the kitchen nowadays - I better should make a "check up" first - just as you do if different people drive the car
Maria
I've done that before too, but today I changed the top thread when doing work sewing, commented to someone how little thread was left on the spool, then had to unpick it, as I'd forgotten to change the bobbin to the right colour -ho hum!
You were right Sue - on finishing the little dress I made a mess with one of the buttonholes. A little fray check and hand sewing and no one will notice. Trying to go too quickly!!!
I just made a pineapple upside down cake and forgot to put the brown sugar/butter mix on top of pineapples. Scraped the batter out of the way and added it in. Tasted great!
My neighbour asked me to embroider two napkins on Tuesday, one with a design of a swimmer I had made earlier for her. I looked in my files for 1.5 hours before admitting I had not saved it. It was just a simple sports symbol with a name, so I went to my software and digitised a new one in 5 minutes flat. As I added a placement line the stitching went without mishaps. How silly can you be to waste so much time.
I put the vegetables on to cool, went out to the sewing room and decided to do a design and whoops veges boiled dry and had to throw away the saucepan and to make matters worse when I did this comment it finished up in embroidery under someone elses thread
I'm a day late, but will add to this anyway. I hired my son to digitize all of my records so that I could be rid of the boxes instead of having to store them. I had a lot of records, but he finally got to a point where his USB stick was full. He brought that to my computer, moved the data to my computer, and then set the computer to burn a DVD of the data, after downloading everything from the USB drive. He left it to do its thing He went downstairs and deleted his drive so he could fill it up again. I didn't know he had done it, didn't look to see if anything was in process, and turned off the computer. Only 2 years worth of data lost. He was shredding documents as he scanned them. OOPS. I haven't even taken my sewing machine out this week.
That sounds like an absolute disaster - you need to sew to take your mind off it.
I'm too tired to type ALL of the silly things I've done this week. Just one, it took me 2 days to get a towel hooped properly to embroider, only to realize that I had put a stripped screw in my hoop instead of the new one I had ordered.
Oh Sue we have all done such things at one time or another. This week don't know if you would call it funny or not but it must have looked that way. Fell asleep in my chair knitting, phone rings, wakes me I step right in the knitting basket and fall all over the place trying to get to the phone. No damage done but have bruises here and there today with a purple and sore thumb, don't know how that happened. Maybe when I reached for the phone and knocked it way behind hubby's chair.
I was out in my blueberry patch and I have a nice little stool that I sit upon for low picking. Had my little pail about half full and tried to swat away a bee...and tipped over...berries and all! And you DO know that the first thing I did is to make sure nobody was around to see it?!? I had to pick myself and all my berries up and I was fine. But then there was the tiniest little bit of laughter...I think it was a bee he-he-heeing!!
How funny; the laughter part is great! Bucket of berries tipped over, not so much fun. At least they were blueberries and not blackberries or raspberries! Those have too many places for the dirt to embed.
Sue - the week is still young and so far I have not done anything too silly. Today I am making a dress for a little girl - who knows what might go wrong. Sarah
Nearly finished the little dress and so far so good. Have to go shopping tomorrow for buttons.
Does it have to be sewing related? This week is only 2 days old and I was pretty good. However not too long ago I had stepped out of the shower and forgotten to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. I battled with bindings like sewing the strip in the wrong direction or cutting on the bias and ending up with corner looking strips. I am just glad I am not the only one and had a really good laugh about this post
While trimming around an ITH project, I trimmed too closely, and it fell apart. The good thing is I ordered new glasses today.
OK, I'll own up.
While I was rushing to finish Polly's (Nonna57) birthday Pyjama Pillow, I wanted to run a row of top stitching around the whole inside edge,
SO
my mind kept thinking French seam, (you know the one, when you sew the right sides together turn it through and seam again then turn it right side out?)
Well I confidently stitched the right sides together, clipping all the corners, then I overlocked all four sides and very deftly turned it right side out, only to realise this was NOT what I had intended.
It had turned out so beautiful, I sat and cursed, then laughed my head off at my stupidity as Ray tried to console me with a cup of tea.
So I picked it up, along with a couple of unpickers, sat down in my favourite lounge chair, with my cup of tea, and unpicked the whole lot, the whole time thinking: HAH! and Polly thinks SHE is the "Unpicking Queen" LOL!!!
This isn't the first time my mind has played such annoying tricks on me and it won't be the last, but it was definitely the most upsetting as I so wanted it to be perfect.
I'll post the end result in projects. :-)
hugs n roses, M
Oh Dear! we all have to much going on to keep our sanity. be glad it was only minor! KAY
Okay, I've had a fairly straightforward, normal week, so I thought Sue takes the cake, until I read asterixsew's entry below. Now I'm not sure...
I have just made a cake and as I took it out of the cake tin tipped it upside down and it broke :(( but it tasted good :)) Right its time for bed befrore I do anything else silly
Well...I'm still laughing over this one! The other morning I made invisible coffee, forgot to turn machine on. Yesterday the filter folded over on itself and I had a coffee lake all over my countertop...I've about reached the conclusion that I need to delete the coffee from my life. :-D
Note to self...wake up before entering the kitchen...their are dangerous toys present!
Oh my goodness. I have done this. Even forgot to put coffee in the filter. I am still drinking coffee however.
This happens to me ever now and then. I now lay a dish towel around the coffee maker so if it does happen the towel soaks it up and it has. I have an ornery coffeemaker
Today I wanted to sew 8 half squares from a red and a green square. As I had cutted the 8 half squares, I have seen, that the green fabric was right side up and the red right side down, so I had to rip all :-((
I was sewing strips together for a jelly roll quilt. I told myself this is going great no mistakes. Ha The last strip I had to rip out twice. Finally got it together I wonder if it's safe to sew it together now
Oh gee, how many times have I gotten distracted while doing one thing only to realize that what I had started doing was not what I was supposed to be doing. Multi-tasking isn't always the best way to get things done.
I stood up went out of my office, then realizing in the hall that I forgot why I stood up...So I went back to my desk.. and waiting to get my memory back..It told me that it was my intention to go to the main printer to pick up some pages that I printed...silly..
NO! I've always walked back to walk back in my memory. I need a watch with built=in sticky notes, though.
Ha, ha. But it is really aggravating when you climbed stairs to get to another floor and not remember. I call it my exercise.
This week???? Seems like I think faster than I do, or I do faster than I think. Some I can fix, others just go bye-bye. Thank you for asking as it is nice to hear that others do silly things, too.
While I was downloading the N of the Blue Flower Font from Cute Alphabets I saved the picture of the design file but then forgot to actually save the actual program for the design files- Duh! Now I will need to hope that others will vote for that letter also, if not, then I will just need to purchase the file when it is needed- Just a $1 so not a biggie but , well yeah, we have likely all done it but was still frustrating.
Too many bigger things in life that are far more important- easier to try not to remember all the little mess ups we make and focus on the things we have accomplished!
((Hugs)) to each of you for each mistake you thought about reading these messages. May any of the "biggie" trials of life, steer clear of your households and loved ones.
I have done too many silly things...one must turn one the stove-top unit if one hopes to heat food...stirring will not produce enough heat. LOL Being tired has very negative consequences!
Better than turning the wrong one (with something inflammable on it.) Trust me, I've done it!
Ha - I see working with stove (oven) not only seems to be a challenge for me (sometimes :-) Maria
My sewing room needs to be tidier. Last week I stood on a china bowl that was on the floor, I trod on it and it broke and cut my foot. It made walking uncomfortable for a couple of days. The iron is on the floor when not in use as the cat loves the ironing board. I caught my foot on the hot iron... not a good week for my feet last week. The room has had a sort out but needs more input from me. I am stopping now before I look too daft
