Apple butter sounds delish. I haven't ever made that, I am going to have to ask Google. You have been very busy!
I try to do what I can & now I am pooped out so may have to wait another day to start the chutney sigh.......
I just love fall & doing preserves for the cold winter ahead makes me appreciate God's Bounty all winter long. I really feel like I am contributing to our family needs this way. Since I am not working I felt @ a loss not bringing in any money so canning makes me feel good & productive too. I hope that the people who are receiving these preserves in their Christmas Basket this year get a lot out of them & more then just food.............
Amen Loralye!! You are very productive, I've not seen you idle yet, you're always sewing, doing things, you're quite ambitious in my book. You're beautiful through and through!
My mom canned till she was about 85 yrs old, I tried to help her when I could, she thought it was important to have homemade applesauce. I love to make applesauce, it's easy and can be made so many ways.
thank you very much Sharon that is a lovely compliment. I try to be productive when I can because you never know what tomorrow may bring
It will be great!!! I have a friend who makes apple butter in her crockpot, I had done some applesauce myself with the cinnamon redhots too, it was pretty tasty, I had done them on the stove not crockpot though. I bagged mine and froze it and it turned out fine. There are some recipes on the web to add applesauce to your apple pies too.
You are becoming well-prepared for the long winter... Apples are not yet ready in my area... just a few more weeks. Plan on picking the first of my pears this weekend.
