Looks great...both the canning and the jar of flowers!!
That looks yummy. I used to can when my kids were home and boy was it a lot of work. It was worth every minute though as it was so good. Do you use a big pressure canner to process it? I still have my grandmother's pressure canner and I bet it would still work. It's at least 70 years old. I had it checked out and got a new gauge and sealing ring when I used it. If hubby ever retires maybe we could grow a garden again. Getting those fresh veggies was the best.
What a wonderful way to use your beloved grandmother's canning jar. Beautiful. Good for you to get all of this canning done.
Yes, a far prettier use. Also pretty with marbles (lost yours) or buttons collection in it. I got an antique one for a wedding gift years ago stuffed with lots of little kitchen $1 and $2 gadgets!
My goodness you have been busy the last few weeks. Just think how yummy all your canned goods will be this winter. I like the idea of the flowers in the jar. Hugs, Mary
Thanks Mary I have enough tomato & vegetable soup for two for one month! so I guess I have done about 60 quarts. A bumper crop this year! Now onto the squash soup soon too. ~hugs~
Where do you find the time to can all these goodies and still help all of us here at Cute? You must have a lot more hours in your day than I do.
LOL when I am awake I like to do as much as I can. When I sleep I guess I sleep as much as my body wants LOL I guess I have not yet found a happy medium lol. Thanks Dino & ~hugs **~
I love home canned food, no thawing it out to use it!!! I Pressure can Chicken and Beef cubes when they are on sale so I have them when the prices are high! Chicken thighs or Breasts can well and are at the ready to add to soups or eat as sandwiches. I love the pretty way yours look also, the flowers look great in the old type jar! Hugs, Judy
thanks so much Judy. You must love your canner then. I am happy that I am not the only one doing this. Seems like there are quite a few of us cuties canning something or other! ~hugs to you too,Loralye~
Wow, u have been a busy lady! Thanks for posting the pic! I too, love canning! Unfortunately, I didn't do any this year but I am looking forward to doing a lot next year! With it being just myself and my hubby, people think I am crazy but it tastes soooo good! Oh, I guess I did do a little bit of canning - I made 24 pints of antipasto, strawberry jam and blackberry jam. But that is nothing as compared to what I normally do! Next year....:)
You are one busy woman. It is interesting seeing how you have done the soup as in the UK I think that most would freeze homemade soup. Your grandmothers jar is lovely with flowers in
