What a fantastic quilt you have made. It is lovely and bright. Sarah
Well done. Like scrapquilts. Don´t like to throw fabrics away
I love the bright colours and the quilting! A good way to use up scraps.
I love all the colors, it all works so well together!!! Very very nice!
Lovely quilt. Great way to use up scraps. Happy Stitching
I love this it is terrific how you put it together. Little pieces and colors makes it so pleasant and fun to pick out a favorite color or print. Love your feather block.
Thank you. I think it would be nice for a child to look for the tiny prints, like the little indian girl or the dogs.
This is Stunning work!!!!Big pat on the back....Well done
ziet er geweldig uit, lekker veel mooie bonte kleuren
lgr,Lammy
love it how/where do we get this awesome Quilt design my friend???
I wanted it to fit the block with a little to spare at the sides.
Thank you and flowers for all.
yes i know you made it but i was hoping it would be on ****lets see**** maybe u embroidery??I can't dream can't i lol hugs
OMGosh, Martine! This is a "happy Memories" quilt. Not an ugly duckling at all! Its beautiful. You come up with the best ideas!! ***FLOWERS to all***
Thank you. Let's put it this way: the pieced fabric did not look very inspiring, but the end result is nice and colourful.
This turned out amazing. It is such a cheerful quilt. I can imagine the hooping issue. I have wondered until now if it was possible to do the quilting on a larger quilt using the embroidery machine. Now I know. Thank you
Thank you. It was rather difficult as the embroidery is 136 mm square, the blocks were 145 and the hoop 150x150 - not much room to manoeuvre! A 200 x 200 hoop like the Husqvarna quilter's hoop might have made it much easier, but I did not want to buy another hoop, they are rather pricey.
Yes they are expensive. I find I use my 200 x 200 a lot. More than the 150 x 150
It did turn out very pretty - well done!!! Laura*
Wow! I don't quilt, if this is an ugly duckling quilt...I may never start! Great front and love the patterns and simplicity of the back. Family memories at the next level. :-)
Thank you. It's meant to be given to charity, but until then I have it up on the front of my bookcase. Hiding all those ugly files with labels like income-tax, bills, etc.
You are welcome...functionality and beauty! Maybe it has found it's home doing this job! :-)
what a wonderful challenge! You have done a remarkable job as hooping this would have been work too! I love that you have used fabrics from long ago & that some are from your kids is an even better memory quilt! What a lovely quilt this has turned out to be & I am so happy that you are pleased with the final results. There is nothing worse then having a top quilt all done & then hating it! It can sit forever only to thrown in the trash or given away! Good for you another UFO done too! ~hugs~ PS your feather block with stipple edging is terrific!
Thank you. I just had a shoebox filled with smaller and larger panels and as I try to get rid of as much fabric and knitting yarn as I can I just had to do something about it. If I make one quilt, sew some child's dresses, knit one jumper and crochet a blanket every month I might end up with nice floor space and one or two empty cupboards in a couple of years. :) I am a good copycat and am halfway one of those multi-directional shawls ...
Nice use of an "Ugly Duckling" as I call them...
Wow, Martine.......what creative juices come from within!! This is such a wonderfully interesting quilt...great job!
Thank you. So nice to do something crazy in between, isn't it. And it brought back a lot of memories. The fabric ranges from Laura Ashley to Vlisco; scraps of boxer shorts I had to make for my then teen-aged son who once surprised me by having bought 8 different rather outrageous fabrics at a market stall deciding that would be cheaper than buying 2 boxers in the shop saving "dress allowance" for some extra computer memory (he is the geek in the family); scraps from dresses and blouses I made for my daughters and so on.
You have created a gorgeous quilt, Martine! I would describe it "a happy quilt", based on the bright, "happy" colours.
Hugs, Lidia
You did a great job! A lot of work, but the end results are very nice! I love the featherblock design, too!
Hugs, Angel
Thank you. The embroidery of a block took 9 minutes at a rather low speed, but hooping the quilt was another matter as it had to be straight and centred, which is easy with a small piece of fabric, but the weight of the quilt made it a bit more tricky.
This looks fantastic to me! I am like the other gal who said if this is an ugly quilt I had better not try quilting!
I cannot even imagine the hooping nightmares! I love the stitching you used. Even the back looks sooo pretty!
