For those Cuties interested to know what 'manually digitized' means.....

picture 1- I use the program Embird to digitize and I made the snowman that I offered to Cuties as a gift.

picture 2- shows the first results that Embird gave me. So I then take the design to Editor and begin to manually remove all those squiggily lines so that the final results will have a clear lace design.

This is the 'manual' part.... I follow each stitch, where it begins and where it ends then either 'walk' the stitch around the edges or actually delete some stitches and
redo them until the results are those in picture 3!!

These 'manual' steps are the differance between better stitch out designs and cheaper designs with stitch out problems.

Keep this in mind when the better embroidery web sites offer freebies and remember to thank them!!!

I'm still ready to add names to the snowmen for any Cutie that would like them, I have changed my snow woman to wearing a necklace!

just PM me with your
-email addy
-Cutie name
-format type
-names requesting and if boy or girl and if deceased

Just read the above and send Dolly a private message - in Q&A you can read how to do that.

Dolly, can I buy these designs from you? Or, where did you get them so I can purchase. They are really cute and would fit in with my snowman theme I have going for Christmas. I love that they are FSL and I can add names to them. That means I can program a frame and walk away and not babysit the machine. My grand kids love the snowmen.

Dolly offered them for free, maybe she'll let you have them even now. Although she might not be able to send them soon as she will be in the USA. Send her a private message - see Q&A to see how to do that.

Manually digitising does not mean you edit it stitch by stitch in Editor, but it means you did not use an auto-digitising program (which Embird does not have) or the semi-automatic magic wand ( which Embird offers).
You can do all editing in Studio so your .eof-file is as you want it and you can convert to stitches for all formats you need instead of reformatting the one format you edited.
To get rid of the unwanted lines select the object then convert to editable stitches. Click on the beginning and end of the line you want to delete, then use a connection between the two parts. And place new nodes along the outside of the snowmen, or whatever the shape you are working on.

As I am working on my iPad I can't show pictures of the steps in Embird. I can write a tutorial later if needed.

Instead of using a normal fill with low density i usually choose a motif fill and use a straight line as the motif. That gives far fewer lines to edit than you got in your first picture, so you can edit faster. Copy and paste a few times and change the angle of the fill to get the crossing lines before doing, choose your start and end points cleverly and hardly any connection stitches are needed. Then edit as above.

You can even make your own motiv fill and one layer will suffice. That is a great way to give different textures to (parts of) your FSL

Thanks for the lesson on the difference between auto and manually digitized. There is a world of difference between the two. Quality designs are always manually digitized and worth stitching out.
